Our Leisure Guide is a magazine that we hope meets the needs of our citizens

Our programs and the upkeep of our facilities is our Council’s focus on having a healthy community and well maintained facilities for the public. We are continually approving funding to maintain and upgrade these facilities, which will allow us to preserve all of our facilities in the best condition for sport and recreation year round. Nicola Valley Skating Club is excited to be up and running again!! This Fall and Winter we are offering the following programs: Pre-Can Skate – For those Skaters that have never skated before, for those who can barely stand up, and for those who can move just a little on the ice. Canskate – For those Skaters who have been in Canskate before, for those who can take some steps, and for those who can stand up. Jr Star Skate (formerly known as Jr Academy) – For those Skaters who have passed at least 4 stages of Canskate, for those who have been in Jr Star Skate previously, or for those invited by the coach. Star Skate – For those Skaters that have passed from Jr Star Skate, for those who know the basics of jumps and spins, for those who have competed before, for those who have had a solo, or for those invited by the coach. If you are unsure what program your child should enroll in, we will have evaluations done by the Head Coach at the beginning of the season. All programs follow the rules and guidelines of Skate Canada and are taught by NCCP accredited coaches.

Within Arm’s Reach Children 6 years and under must remain within arm’s reach of a parent or adult caregiver at all times. A responsible adult or caregiver 16 years or older in the water may supervise up to 3 children under the age of 7 regardless of swimming ability. Fitness Room Policy - 16+ years Patrons 15 years and under, please see the supervisor on duty for additional options. Clean indoor running shoes that cover the entire foot must be worn at all times. For health and safety reasons all other footwear (sandals, Crocs, flip flops, work boots, dress shoes) are not permitted. Shirts or upper body athletic wear must be worn at all times. Jeans are not permitted. Bags, backpacks, outside shoes, and all other personal items are not permitted in the fitness room. Lockers are located in the change room for this purpose, cost 50 cents.
