12-year-old Conor is bullied by his classmates because he sees the world differently. His mother (Felicity Jones), is suffering from a terminal illness while his distant, divorced dad (Toby Kebbell) has started a new life in the US and his bossy grandmother (Sigourney Weaver) has become increasingly controlling. Suddenly, a wizened and mysterious yew tree materialises (Liam Neeson in performance-capture mode) to provide Conor with some muchneeded guidance. An intimate, heart-warming fable about a boy coming to terms with the messiness of real life.
