after you’re accepted The Post-Admission Process After you have been admitted to Mercy College, you will receive an Admit Packet. In it, you will find your acceptance letter explaining your admission to the College and/or your professional program along with various forms you’ll need to complete as part of the postadmission requirements. It is very important you complete the information requested as quickly as possible as it will delay registration for classes and clinical assignments. If you have questions, please contact your admissions counselor.

The Post-Admission Requirements 1.

The required non-refundable tuition deposit must be received by the Admissions Office within one month of the date on the acceptance letter or admission will be withdrawn.

Attention All Applicants form and the following background check forms: Iowa Health Care Facility (135) Record Check, Request for Child Abuse Information and Request for Dependent Adult Abuse Registry Information.

Send your Official Transcripts from all Colleges and Universities attended to the Admissions Office.

Provide the Financial Aid Office a copy of you Military Discharge Form (DD214) or Basic Eligibility (DD2384), if applicable.

If English is not your native language and you did not graduate from a U.S. high school you need to provide a TOEFL score of 500 or better or take the COMPASS Reading test and achieve a score of 81 or better.

Please be advised the background check results will need to be completed before registration can take place. This process usually takes 30 days once the completed forms have been submitted to the state agencies.

Medical History/Health Update form signed by the student.

Medical Examination/Physical form signed by a physician.

Required Immunizations form signed by a physician. 1) Complete and submit documentation of a two-step tuberculin skin test screening. Full TB process must have been completed within 1 year. 2) Official documentation showing student has received or is currently in the process of receiving the 3-dose Hepatitis B series vaccine series. 3) MMR (2 doses), Chicken Pox immunity and current Tetanus booster.

An Official Transcript A transcript is considered official when stamped with the official school seal, signed by the appropriate school official and received in a sealed envelope. During the application process, request that official transcript(s) be sent to the Mercy College Admissions Office from your high school and any colleges you have attended.

CPR Requirement 8.

Submit proof of completion and current certification in American Heart Association CPR for the Health Care Provider (including adult, infant, child, 1- and 2-man, AED).

COMPASS Test Requirement (Nursing Students Only)

9.

Schedule the COMPASS test prior to College Orientation/Registration or meet one of the following criteria to demonstrate competency in mathematical ability: a.

Achieved a mathematics score of 22 or higher on the ACT test or a mathematics score of at least 480 on the SAT within the last two years, or

b.

Achieved a grade of “C” (not “C-”) or higher in a college-level algebra course within the last two years, or

c.

Achieved a scaled mathematics score of 80 or greater on the prealgebra domain of the COMPASS test within the last two years. If a student does not achieve a score of 80 on the COMPASS test, the student must take either MAT 095 Pre-Algebra or MAT 105 College Algebra prior to or concurrent with the first semester of the nursing program. College credit is awarded for MAT 095, but the credit does not transfer nor does it apply to credit hours in ASN program curriculum plan.

Short-term Certificate Programs Mercy College offers four short-term certificates providing a foundation for entry into multiple professions to meet the needs of health care employers. Short-term certificate programs are held over the course of 7 to 17 weeks. A variety of day and evening courses are available. Classes are taught by leading professionals in various health care fields.
