“Report on Oscars” By: Mercedes Loza

Entry #2: Report on Oscars Red Carpet (03/19/14) Two of the most prevailing trends that I have seen on the Oscars Red Carpet 2014 would have to be evening gowns with a trumpet or sheath silhouettes, as well as muted and very washed out colors. Perfect examples would Jessica, Jennifer, and Kate. They all chose to wear washed out/ muted colors on gowns with simple silhouettes and even though they are all women with fair skin, I believe that all of their outcomes were successful.

I would definitely have to say that best dressed in my opinion for the Oscars Red Carpet 2014 would be Lupita N’yongo! This custom Prada gown in “Nairobi blue” was by far the best color on the carpet, and her skin tone illuminated the pasty color far more than I would have expected. The empire line silhouette works complimenting Lupita’s small figure. The dress is almost whimsical looking and the simplistic look was pulled off. Lupita looks very dreamy, and I feel as though this was successful because of the lowneck line, empire waistline, and flowy bottom.
