HOW TO USE THE JOURNAL: THE WORK

The first section of the journal is all about taking the time to get grounded, clear and ready to create your future. We recommend doing “The Work” pages in the order we’ve laid them out, over 2 - 3 weeks. Set aside time and give yourself permission to get curious and listen to your intuition. Sometimes this work can feel challenging and messy. If you feel stuck, take a breath, close your eyes and ask yourself “If I knew the answer what would it be.” Go for “flow” instead of “forcing” the answers or putting down what you think you’re supposed to write down. This is your space, your time and your life. There isn’t a right or wrong. Let your truest self be seen and heard. Write down your authentic answers.

W H AT I S YO U R W H Y

Get clear on what’s most important to you! What are your core values? What is the motivation behind your actions? What is your bigger purpose? Follow the prompt on that page and write down your “WHYs” all around the What is Your Why bubble. Get clear about what lights you up. Your values will guide what you put on your Vision Board pages!

CURIOSITY LIST

Curiosity is our favorite! Can you tell? Curiosity gives you permission to dream big without attachment to getting it right, or even doing it at all. Curiosity is a practice, and this worksheet is a space for just that. You can fill up this page in one sitting, or come back to it as often as curiosity strikes!

VISION

Your vision pages are sacred—let them reflect your biggest dreams and hopes for your future. Get out of constraint and go beyond concepts like time, money, etc. If you had all resources available to you right now, what does your future look like? Write, draw, paint, cut out magazines—allow yourself to be creative in your own unique way. Have we mentioned that there is no right or wrong way to do this? Use the core values you’ve written on your “What is Your Why” page to guide what goes on your Vision pages. You want to see your core values reflected in your vision and dreams. Discern if a dream aligns with Your Why, and decide what truly belongs on your vision board from your most sacred self.

MAKE IT HAPPEN

Our proven goal-mapping process—updated with a new and improved format. Pick three dreams from your vision board, and one use a Make It Happen grid for each one. Turn your dream into a goal by giving it a deadline, a specific date, a by-when (example: I learn dog sledding by December 21, 2020). Your dreams and goals come to life through specificity and logistics. Create a road map to your vision by creating a Plan for your goal. What are the actions you know you need to take to make this goal happen? Be specific. Turn your Plan into Actions by giving each step in your plan a specific deadline or by-when. Check back in and cross out each Action as you complete them—acknowledgement and celebration are important too! Miss a deadline? Who cares! Give yourself a new deadline! Remember, this is a practice. Self-love and resilience are required.

TA K E I N V E N T O R Y

You can’t get where you want to go unless you realize where you’re at. There are most likely areas in your life where you are in auto-pilot, stuck in habits and stories that you’re not even aware you’re stuck in. The inventory work is all about awareness for awareness’ sake. Try to stay out of judgment—it’s easy to start making yourself wrong for your habits... STOP IT. How you’ve spent your time and what you’ve focused on has gotten you to where you’re at right now—and isn’t life pretty good?! Awareness is the space from which you can add choice back in. And when you add in choice, you feel empowered to create your best life.

THE THEMES

Each journal volume features three themes and intentions that give you something new to explore in your own life. There is no expected outcome here. There is no way to get the themes right. These aren’t goals; they are an aim, a greater purpose, or an attitude to commit to and explore for several weeks at a time. Each theme will help you gain focus and clarity in a world full of distractions. It’s an opportunity to learn something new and think in a different way.

THEME JOURNAL QUESTIONS

Thoughts happen, and they happen fast! Journaling provides a space to get in touch with your thoughts. Writing in this way helps you find time to stop, check-in, be present and clear mental clutter so that you can focus on your goals with clarity. Explore each theme with a set of theme-specific journal questions. These journal prompts encourage you to discover new ideas, think in new ways and get out of your comfort zone. Answering questions that you didn’t know you needed to answer will provide areas for growth that you didn’t even know existed!

D A I LY J O U R N A L

We believe in developing habits and disciplines. Disciplines like daily journaling lay a foundation for all the other actions you will need to take to bring your vision and goals to life. We encourage you to commit to journaling daily, to allow these pages to become a practice and a ritual that keep you connected to your best self. These questions will help you get clear, keep focused, stay present and get to know yourself better. We have written questions that we ask ourselves and each other when we need to remember who we really are and what we’re out to create in the world. Create a time each morning and night to answer these questions. Let this be a space for you to access the future you’re creating one day at a time.

COMMUNITY

We are more powerful together. This journal is your launchpad into your future and into a community of goal-diggers just like you. The beautiful thing about curiosity is that when you explore it, you will quickly realize you don’t know everything... and that is perfect! We are creating a collective of people that we can learn from and grow with. Our website features a blog where we share stories and lessons from other members in The Curiosity Collective. We will offer group workshops and events, both online and in person! Join the conversation in the Curiosity Collective Facebook Group (for journal holders only... use the password “magic maker”) and on Instagram @curiosity.collective. We can’t wait to get to know you as you get to know yourself. Your future starts now, and you’ve got a whole community cheering you on.

JOURNAL VOLUMES

The journal you are holding is The Curiosity Collective Journal, Volume I. We will release a new volume of The Curiosity Collective Journal every three months. If you’d like to sign up for a journal subscription, visit our website and enjoy a discount for being a subscription member!

How I Spend My Time

Week 1 : Awareness Time is your most valuable resource. How you spend your time now determines your future. Are you consciously choosing how you spend your time, or are you unconsciously doing things out of habit? Over the next week, track how you spend your time—write down what you do and for how long. Week 3 : Awareness What you focus on becomes your reality. What you say in your thoughts and outloud shapes your future and how you see the world. The way to change your experience of the world is to change the narrative in your head. Start by listening for the things you think and say. What do you say about yourself to yourself? What do you say about others to yourself? What do you say about the world to yourself? Take note of all your thoughts this week. Wait until you complete your week of inventory before moving to the next page!

Notice the thoughts that aren’t supporting your best self. What are some new thoughts to replace the old thoughts with? List them below and practice saying them when you notice the old stories creep up. Change your thoughts, change your words, change your narrative, change your world.

THEMES

Theme I - Begin Again Theme II - Trust Your Timing Theme III - Practice Discipline

THEME I

BEGIN AGAIN

You are the one. The time is now. Rise up. Begin again.

BEGIN

AGAIN

Today is the beginning of your chosen future. In order to get where you want to be, you will need to start from exactly where you are. Right here, right now, you have 100% of your life left. The possibility of a fresh start and a new outcome exists in every single moment. Starting fresh and beginning again is a choice. You can choose to be stuck or you can choose to give yourself a clean slate, a blank canvas and a chance to start living the life you want to live right now. Give yourself a new beginning—it takes a little bit of courage, a new way of thinking and a decision to act. The only place from which you can create your future is here and now. Take the first step. You are ready to create your future. You are the one. The time is now.

Where in your life are you procrastinating or feeling stuck? Why? How can you give yourself a new beginning today?

Which one of your goals seems the most challenging to make happen? What is it about this goal that keeps you out of action (fear, money, time, limiting thoughts, etc.)? Write a list of actions, big or small, that you will take this month to fulfill on your dreams. Start now. And begin again, and again, and again.

THEME II

TRUST YO U R T I M I N G

Love yourself here. You are right where you need to be.

T R U ST YO U R T I M I N G You are right where you are meant to be. Trust the timing of your life and love yourself right where you’re at. Doing this work, bringing your vision and goals to life, is a balance between action and flow, creation and surrender. It’s a dance and a practice. Continue to do the work you know you need to do, (take the actions in line with your why, your vision and your goals) and also hold space for yourself during the times when things don’t feel like they’re working out. Have patience, trust and faith that you’ll know what to do next. The universe has your back! You don’t always need to know the answers, you can’t always have a perfect plan, you don’t always have to be busy or doing all the things. Sometimes the work looks like allowing time, space and healing. Learn to keep showing up for whatever life is giving you today. You’re worth it, it’s worth it. Love yourself here and trust the timing of your life.

How are your goals going? Are your goals progressing as you expected? Are you experiencing any judgment or resistance around certain goals on your list? Instead of fighting or resisting the imperfection, messiness, the unknown and the “failures,” what would be possible if you added in space and patience?

Where can you stop forcing things and step away or take a break to gain clarity? What do you need to surrender? Give up how you think things are supposed to be. What are three expectations you can let go of today? Sometimes the easiest way to get out of expectations and comparison is to appreciate what is. What are three things you appreciate about your life right now?

THEME III

PRACTICE DISCIPLINE

Discipline is the foundation for freedom, flow and your future.

PRACTICE DISCIPLINE Be responsible and accountable for creating the kind of life you want to be living. Discipline takes patience and practice. The foundation you set for yourself allows you to be in choice, stick with difficult things and honor your commitments. Discipline keeps you in action and in connection with Your Why, so that you can make the difference you’re meant to. Focus on what’s important to you and you won’t have time to think about the trivial things. Dedication and structure = freedom and flow. Discipline is a practice of action for action’s sake, to keep you aligned with your goals and your highest self. Do what needs to be done. Everything is possible through the practice of discipline. What are five things you know you need to do every day to feel your best? It’s usually the simplest things you can do for yourself that will set you up for success in all areas of your life. (Examples: movement, sleep, etc.) What core value—Your Why—does each action keep you aligned with? (Examples: Action - Movement, Value - Vitality) Action: Core Value: Action: Core Value: Action: Core Value: Action: Core Value: Action: Core Value:

What are common excuses you use to avoid discipline? (Examples: I’m too tired, It doesn’t matter, I don’t have time, etc.) What are you willing to have the discipline to say “No’ to, to say“Yes” to your greater why? (Example: Staying up later than planned watching Netflix.)
