Merry Christmas! What is the best Christmas gift you have ever received? For me, it was the horse that went with my favorite doll. Its legs were all jointed and posable. It had a flowing main of synthetic hair and a gleaming chestnut coat of the finest plastic. I later learned my mom searched six stores and finally found my mighty steed tucked behind other toys on the top shelf. But, the greatest gift ever given is God himself as a gift to the world. That through Him all who will receive this gift would not perish but have eternal life. Sadly, many have not received this greatest gift.
receptive to hear about the gospel and wonder about their own eternal security. We want to be there to point them to Christ for the answers. The following is an excerpt from an email I received from Stephanie. She and her husband are the directors of the Hospitality House in Osan, South Korea. Thanksgiving at Hansen Christian Center
As Cadence missionaries our motto is “sharing the gospel and our lives with the military community.” We make our lives a gift to others. We Thanksgiving in Afghanistan are overjoyed to be a part of this amazing minstry and the hope of Christ. Through Bible are chomping at the bit to get out studies, singles groups, family-focused to our overseas assignment. Once ministries, evangelistic outreach our support is raised we will be efforts, one-to-one discipleship, and stationed in Asia (likely Okinawa, coffee house ministries we share the Japan) near a US military base. We ups and downs of life with them, will be directors of a Hospitality encouraging them into deeper House which will be open to all relationships with Christ and with military personnel as a “home away others. Our service men and women from home”. At hospitality houses service men and women find an open who have volunteered to serve our nation are at a strategic moment in door, a comfortable couch, a hometheir lives. In a profession that deals cooked meal, and people, who listen, with life and death they are more encourage, love and point them to
Dear Jonna, Bob and I have been here in Osan for 3 years—this is our 4th Christmas. We make sure to be here and open throughout Thanksgiving and Christmas because it is the highest suicide rated season for the Military. Here in Osan we have a lot of 1-year assignments. Many of them are unaccompanied— leaving wives or husbands and children at home. A good number of others are first term airmen. Young “kids” fresh out of tech school who have never left home before—it’s an interesting mix.…The families that are here struggle with their active duty person working long hours, being sent on TDY, and living in a fishbowl type environment. …Because of the wars going on, the sacrifice of our military has become more public, but the reality is most of us have no real idea of how costly serving in the military is for them, their spouses, children, grandparents and extended family. …

Jonna, I don’t know where you all are in the process of getting to the field, but know you are needed! Blessings, Stephanie We are, at this time, in “partnership development” (aka raising support), and, in this economy, it is progressing slowly, but God’s timing is perfect and we are convinced He is perparing us to go when the time is right. Would you prayerfully consider partnering with us? Would you be willing to commit to be a part of our prayer and/or financial team? It is only through generous giving by loving and faithful people like you that we are able to go and do the work of this ministry. The reason we call this a partnership is because it is impossible to have a godly and effective ministry without faithful people in prayer, faithful financial support, and people able to go. The gospel does not go out if no one goes. It requires finances to go and none of it is of any use if it is not upheld in prayer. Thank you to all who are already partners with us and to those that God has chosen to be partners with us. May the God of the universe, King of kings, Lord of lords richly bless you this Christmas!
“And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you; you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” Luke 2:10-12.
This is the greatest gift ever given! By His grace alone, The Payne Family (scribed by Jonna Payne) 1 Thess. 2:8
