SELF CARE & MENTAL WELLNESS

@wocworkshopbcs As Women of Color, we have a tendency to prolong help seeking behaviors in regards to our mental health and self care. Our unique stressors can be coupled with the pressures of radiating excellence and rising above barriers in many settings. The annual Self Care and Wellness Workshop creates an avenue of celebration and appreciation for the Women of Color in the Brazos Valley. Hosted virtually and in-person, the workshop includes: guest speakers, wellness activities, brunch, and community building. From mental health at work to managing stress & anxiety, we cover topics that educate and empower women to prioritize their wellness and incorporate self care into their daily routine.

I will be obtaining my degree in Psychology with a Certificate in Diversity and a Minor in Human Resources Development on December 18th, 2021. I am constantly working towards my goal of becoming a Clinical Psychologist. I hope to continue my research and advocate for underrepresented populations in order to create effective strength-based interventions to implement across community settings. As an intern for the NAMI organization, I thank the NAMI Executive Board for putting complete trust in me and my vision to create a Women of Color Workshop to benefit the Brazos Valley Community. I am proud to announce that this workshop will now continue as a NAMI annual workshop. Please help me in continuing my efforts to impact Women of Color in the Brazos Valley community.
