Z tohoto náročného období mu zůstala jen část vzpomínek. Přibyly však úplně jiné, nečekané: „V kómatu jsem se dostal do tunelu, kdy jsem viděl celý svůj život, potkal jsem se se všemi, kteří v mém životě něco znamenají. Poté jsem prožíval příběhy, které byly tak reálné, že jsem později nebyl schopný identifikovat, co jsem opravdu zažil a co bylo jen kóma. V jednom z nich jsem si přesně 8. listopadu přebíral cenu, která byla pod záštitou Buckinghamského paláce. Když jsem se probudil, nutil jsem své blízké, aby zjistili, o kterou soutěž jde, aby mě omluvili. Nic nenašli. V září, o několik měsíců později, jsem ve Ville Memories slavil narozeniny se svou rodinou. A když jsme si připíjeli při západu slunce, přišel telefonát z Londýna, že jsme v soutěži Boutique Hotel Awards vyhráli kategorii Family v Evropě. Cenu jsem přebral 8. listopadu 2018 v Londýně. Během večera jsme navíc postupovali dál a v naší kategorii jsme skončili mezi čtyřmi nejlepšími hotely na světě.„
Only a few memories remain from this difficult time. Of the memories that did survive, some are wholly unexpected. “I while in a coma I found myself in a tunnel where I saw my whole life, and I met everyone who means something to me. Then I lived experiences that were so real that later I was unable to tell what had actually happened and what were coma dreams. In one of them, it was November 8th and I was receiving an award at Buckingham Palace. When I woke up, I asked my family to find out which competition it could be and excuse me from attending. Nothing was found. In September, a few months later, I celebrated my birthday at Villa Memories with my family. And just as we were toasting the sunset, a phone call came from London, telling us that we won the Family Category in Europe at the Boutique Hotel Awards. I accepted the prize on November 8th, 2018 in London. During the evening, the news got even better. We finished among the top four hotels in the world in our category.”
Více než půl roku, který strávil v nemocnici, náročná rekonvalescence, při níž se znovu učil chodit a hýbat svaly, a zážitky z kómatu, z nichž mrazí, se odrazily na dnešním životním postoji Martina Ditmara. „Změnilo mě to,„ přiznává podnikatel. Práce už v jeho životě nemá přednost před vším ostatním. Poklad ve formě Villy Memories si však hýčká dál a z kvality odmítá slevit. „Villu jsem postavil na základě svých představ a vzpomínek z cest. Ditmar spent over half a year in the hospital, followed by a challenging convalescence, when he relearned how to walk and reuse his muscles, and his chilling experiences in the coma are reflected in his attitude toward life today. "It changed me," admits the businessman. Work no longer takes precedence over everything else in his life. However, the treasure that is Villa Memories still makes its demands and he refuses to compromise on quality. “I built the villa based on my ideas and memories from my travels. There's a piece of me in it. I made it so that I felt comfortable in it and that guests were in an environment with a homely atmosphere and five-star service," Ditmar says describing his hotel in the middle of the Hostýn highlands. The fact that he did a good job is demonstrated by the win at the Boutique Hotel Awards competition, where Villa Memories competed against more than 300 hotels in 80 countries around world.
