FROM DICTATION TO DIALOGUE We do not dictate what good design is, but open the platform for dialogue in order for the public to think about what they perceive as “good design and why.

It is an essential part of critical thinking, of which we are determined advocates, to question all that is popular, especially in the field of design that is threatened by so many commercial death traps. Our platform is one where the organizer does not have the final say, and where freedom of speech is respected. We take the feedback we get from the public and our participants very seriously, and we try to accommodate to the needs of our audience as much as possible. We are also open to criticism and even encourage it towards our design scene and our events. Without dialogue, there can either be silence or dictation, and Beirut Design Week is not the place for either. Through our conferences, talks, open discussions, social media channels, promotion of local bloggers and media, we set the space for ideas to transcend, connect, reflect, and re-iterate.
