Music Export Norway GSA Berlin Office Torstrasse 177 D-10115 Berlin email@example.com
Internship, Music Export Norway GSA An intern at the GSA office will get a chance to work in Europe’s largest, and perhaps the most positive and interesting music market in the world. You’ll get a valuable overview of the export-focused part of the Norwegian music industry, and insight and knowledge of the German market and its mechanisms. You will also participate at some of the most important music industry gatherings in Germany. You’ll be encouraged to work independently at times, as this is a satellite office with no administration and doesn’t have the capacity to follow up interns as our head office. You will need to be flexible enough to handle long and unconventional working hours and an intensive workload during busy periods. Much of the work is via e-mail and a good knowledge of effective email communication is recommended. You would be asked to sign a contract of confidentiality.
Some of the tasks expected of the intern: Assisting the office coordination Manage the logistical administration for artists and Norwegian music industry that MEN support whilst traveling in the GSA (backline/hotel arrangements, promotional support etc.) Coordinate MEN GSA’s social media channels Responsible for coordinating editorial content in cooperation with the Embassy and Music Information Centre Norway. Individual project work Evaluation and reports Research Proof Reading and translating
Logistics related to visits and events arranged by MEN GSA Participation in leading music conferences such as Berlin Music Week & Jazzahead Ad hoc duties
Period It is preferable that the intern agrees to at least a 6 month time period (including a trial period of 1.5 months), although this can be suited to the student plan of the intern. We normally try to overlap with the current intern in order to facilitate a smooth transition. We have taken into account that the intern might need days off for mandatory tuition and holidays, but we’d need early notice on this. The office has flexible work hours, but tries to keep to standard hours of 10am6pm. It is expected that the intern is able to follow this schedule. During the trial period the intern will normally work 11am-5pm. Intern assignment We hope that the intern will write an assignment/dissertation on subjects and topics related to the work of Music Export Norway. The administration would be happy to assist in this. Languages A larger part of the communication going out from the GSA office is conducted in German, but also in English. It is preferable that the intern knows German by mother tongue, or has a similar understanding of the language. Our social media and other editorial work are in English, this way will an excellent command of English also be required. To know Norwegian/Scandinavian is a plus, but not necessary. Funding the internship is unpaid, but the intern will receive 3000NOK/350EUR per month as flat rent compensation.
