This is the final series the two teams will play against each other this season, and it is the first time they have faced each other since May. The Redbirds are coming off a 3-1 series loss to the Fresno Grizzlies, while Oklahoma City is coming off a 3-1 series loss to the Reno Aces. The Redbirds lead the season series 10-5, and with Friday night’s win, they sealed the season series win. Yesterday, infielder Patrick Wisdom was purchased by St. Louis, and Tommy Edman was transferred to Memphis from Springfield. Today’s game will be broadcast on www. memphisredbirds.com with Steve Selby on the call. ON THE HILL: Right-hander Jake Woodford will take the mound for the Redbirds in tonight’s finale against the Dodgers. It will be Woodford’s eighth start of the season with Memphis, and his first against Oklahoma City. In his first seven starts, he is 3-2 with a 3.65 ERA in 37.0 innings of work. In his last start against Fresno, the righty allowed five earned runs in four innings on six hits and three walks. Before that outing last week, Woodford had been dominant in his previous three starts. He won all three contests, combining to allow just two earned runs in 17.2 innings of work, giving him a 1.05 ERA in those three games. In that span, he allowed 11 hits and eight walks, while striking out 15 batters.

HISTORY WITH OKLAHOMA CITY: Memphis and Oklahoma City have played every year dating back to 1998 when Memphis joined the PCL. Oklahoma City has been affiliated with the Rangers, Astros, and Dodgers in that span. So far this season, the two teams have played 15 games against each other, with Memphis holding a slight lead at 10-5. The two have been evenly matched all season. The ‘Birds are slightly out-hitting Oklahoma City at .275 to .248, and slightly out-pitching them with an ERA 3.43 compared to their 4.47 mark. With the win Friday night, the Redbirds have secured their first season series win against Oklahoma City since 2011 when they went 11-5. THE SEASON ABOUT THE LAST ONE: The Memphis Redbirds won last night’s game in dominant fashion, beating the Oklahoma City Dodgers 14-0. The ‘Birds scored four runs in the second and eighth innings, while scoring five in the ninth, and one in the sixth inning. Memphis pounded out 16 hits, only four for extra-bases, in the win.

Tyler Lyons made the start for the ‘Birds, pitching two innings in his effort to get stretched out to start more consistently. Usual starter Chris Ellis piggy-backed Lyons’ start. They are now a season-high 30 games over .500. The ‘Birds have the best record in all of Triple-A Baseball, and are one of just two teams to have 70 wins this season. Memphis also has the second-best record through 118 games in franchise history. The 2017 team was 78-40 through 118 games. HAVE A NIGHT, RAMON: In last night’s win over the Oklahoma City Dodgers, Memphis infielder Ramon Urias went 4-for-5 at the plate, scoring twice, and driving in three runs. Urias has been on fire at the plate since rejoining the Redbirds last week. He has collected hits in each of the four games he has played since rejoining the team from Springfield, and has had multiple hits in three of those games. He is hitting .474 (9-for-19), scoring five times, and driving in five runs. Urias had struggled for consistency in his first few stints with Memphis earlier this season, but had dominated with Springfield. In Double-A, the infielder was hitting .335 (52-for-155) in 41 games. Going back to his last stint with the ‘Birds, Urias has now hit in six-straight Triple-A contests. With his performance over the last four days, he has raised his batting average with Memphis to .276 (24-for87). WALKIN’ WILLIAMS: Last night, outfielder Justin Williams went 2-for-3 at the plate, walking twice, and scoring four times. He joined former Redbird, now Yankee, Luke Voit as the only Redbirds to score four times in a game this season. Williams also had a double in the game. Since being traded from the Tampa Bay organization a few weeks ago, Williams has been a strong asset for the Redbirds. In seven games with Memphis, the outfielder is hitting .292 (7-for-24), scoring five times, hitting two doubles, one home run, driving in five runs, walking three times, and striking out just four times. WELCOME BACK, TOMMY: With Patrick Wisdom’s contract being purchased by St. Louis yesterday, infielder Tommy Edman was transferred to Memphis from Springfield. Edman played in the playoffs with Memphis last season, and has joined the team for the first time this season. Last night, he went 2-for4, scoring once, hitting a sacrifice fly, and driving in two in the win. In the playoffs last season, the utility infielder appeared in nine games, hitting .222 (2-for9), and did not make an error. With Springfield this season, he was hitting .298 (128-for-429) in 104 games. SOSA’S HOT BAT: After a 2-for-5 performance last night, Edmundo Sosa continued to swing a hot bat at the plate. Last night, Sosa hit a double, drove in two runs, and scored twice. In the last five games, Sosa is hitting .333 (7-for-21) with nine runs scored, two doubles, one home run, and five RBI.
