THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE THE MAINLAND • Junior Joe Jackson is a firm believer in that, as he’s played rather well in the Tigers’ 15 games since returning from The Bahamas. • In those 15 contests, the 6-foot-1 guard averaged 16.1 points, 5.1 assists and 3.2 rebounds. • Jackson netted double figures in all 15 contests, including a career-high 26 points versus East Carolina Jan. 30. • However, it’s his shooting percentages that are even better. Jackson is hitting 57.7 percent from the field, 53.8 percent from the arc and 73.8 percent from the free throw line. IT’S A BLOCK PARTY • After leading C-USA in blocks a year ago at 5.6 bpg, Memphis began 2012-13 averaging only 3.9 blocks per contest in the first seven games (27 total blocks). • Well, the Tigers have picked up their intensity on the defensive end in the last 13 games with 99 total blocks (7.6 bpg). • In each of the last 13 games, Memphis had no fewer than four blocks.
