GAME #15

Memphis 62 • UAB 59 Jan. 7, 2012 • Birmingham, Ala

Memphis survived a frenetic final 30 seconds to hang on for the 62-59 win against UAB. Will Barton paced Memphis with his eighth double-double of the season, scoring 16 points and hauling in 10 rebounds. Memphis held the three-point lead and had Wesley Witherspoon at the line for a pair of free throws with 16 ticks remaining in the game. Both Witherspoon freethrow attempts rimmed out, giving UAB a chance for the tie. However, Chris Crawford blocked a three-point attempt by Jordan Swing. Witherspoon grabbed the rebound while falling out of bounds and threw the ball off Swing to give Memphis possession with 1.2 seconds left. Memphis attempted to throw the inbounds pass long, but it was picked off by Ovie Soko. UAB was able to call timeout with a mere 0.6-seconds remaining.
