MELODY KWOK Graphic Designer Portfolio 2014 - 2016 melodykwok@gmail.com www.melodyk.com

About Me This is Melody Kwok. I born in a traditional family, with one father and mother. I was the first child, 7 years late, my little brother came. My name was named from a movie called "Melody" which from England in 1971. I love drawing when I was young. I drew a lot, even drew on my textbook during classes. My mother always said I should not drawing during classes, it made me distracted on class. Colouring book was my favorite item for spending time when I was a kid. After I grow up, Art class became my favorite class during in high school. I remember my first award was about drawing, it was a poster design competition in our high school. I am in a transition point that really do not know what I want to do and have to make changes and decisions that I want to dictate my entire life. It is kind of daunting and scary after I finish school. I hope I could have a chance to get to know me more and understand a little bit more about me. That could help me to have a better relationship with others.

For my future, I hope I can be an illustrator for children's book or work for a children book's publishing house for my career. I think children's book could be a collection with parents and children nowadays. Kids are overusing technology products, and parents are using technology as a babysitting. Reading together is important for formative years of childhood. Therefore, I wish I could design a children's book that makes parents and kids read more.

Rebranding

Students will design a suite of corporate identity items for a specified industry type that speaks clearly to their brand, products and services and target audience — making informed choices about their client, answering the needs of the brief. Students will design a logotype and related items, a multipage document, product packaging, web presence and develop a suite of imagery for use across these items. Students must supply flat layouts and photographs of mockups in their folio. Mister Donut now runs very well in Japan. Donuts is an imported style snack in Japan. There is not much competitors in the Japa- nese market. I hopes to expand its market in the United States. Since there are thousands of donut stores in U. S. it must make a big difference in order to let the Americans to recall Mister Donut in the market.

The original logo design is like a fish more than a man. You can’t think of anything related to donut by seeing this logo. The type- face of this logo name is too old fashioned. The interior design of the store is not attractive. So lots of changes need to be done in order to bring more Americans back to Mr. Donut’s stores.

METHODOLOGY

A Canadian artist adds paint on her 2 years old daughter’s black and white doodles, transforming them into incredible work of arts. Painter Ruth Oosterman says she was inspired by her daughter Eve from the moment she was born. As soon as Eve could hold crayon, she started doodling and one bay Ruth saw something in her daughter sketching. Ruth saw to figure standing  by a lake shore, so she started to use her imagination and expanding on Eve’s sketch to create a beautiful drawing. Then Ruth continues with even more amazing collaborations. Ruth feels blessed to have Eve helper approach painting with newlines.

CONCLUSION Parents should help children be the best they can be, do not let technology to be babysitter or playmate. Therefore, remember to keep technology away and to encourage children to connect with others. engage with parents and friends, and the same with their peers at play time.
