NEW ADDITIONS, SPRING POSSIBILITIES Spring is upon us, and I am looking forward to the possibilities of 2010. However, as you all well know, our national economy is not yet out of the woods. Ray Davis

One of the clearest indicators is the number of banks being closed by the FDIC. This is not something that we like to see happen to our competitors. Staff, customers, vendors and shareholders are all impacted. Fortunately, a number of healthy banks stand ready to support those communities. We are one of those banks. In 2009, we assumed the operations of The Bank of Clark County (Vancouver, Wash.), and more recently, those of EvergreenBank (Seattle, Wash.) and Rainier Pacific Bank (Tacoma, Wash.). Umpqua now has 176 stores serving communities from Seattle to San Francisco. The integration of the assumed banks’ operations is going smoothly and we have been impressed with the staff and customers’ patience and grace. We’re proud they’re now part of Umpqua. We’re also proud that in 2009 alone, our associates volunteered more than 30,800 hours through our Connect Volunteer Network. In addition, Forbes magazine listed us as the 19th best bank in the United States. Like last year, 2010 will present new challenges. LE LOUNGE

In Le Lounge, both existing clients and prospective customers can relax and surf the Internet via their own smart phones or with an iPad provided for free. This lounge will be the first area that welcomes the customers when they come into our store from the main door, and they can relax first or have fun by browsing the Internet via free Wi-Fi that our store provides or even be served with coffee and cookies that we will provide. This concept is taken from the cafĂŠ and lounge concept where people talk and browse accompanied by drinks that are complimentary.

FINANCIAL INFO AREA

This Financial Info Area is a learning environment where people can access economic and financial information, check stock market prices, attend workshops and seminars, etc. This is like a trading room where people who deal with stocks can enjoy their time here with complimentary food and drink that we serve our customers.

BANKING BOUTIQUE

In Banking Boutique, customers and prospective clients can explore Umpqua’s range of products and perform simulations using iPad applications provided. This concept is the same as a clothing boutique, where customers browse the store products and get ideas about what they want to buy or what they need.

BANKING BOUTIQUE PLUS

In Banking Boutique Plus, if the regular Banking Boutique is for self-service tech, then this section is for more personal and consultative interactions. Advisors will be available to help clients to plan their finances by working with an interactive screen. This area is based on clothing boutique where a manager will assist their customers directly through consultation about a product. The same as our bank, we will provide a specialist person to go through everything to meet our customers’ satisfaction.


Play Area

PLAY AREA

In Play Area, parents need not to worry anymore about how long their banking process will take. Their children will enjoy or even be willing to wait longer than the parents need. The Play Area is a place where children can have fun, draw on a tiled wall or watch children’s TV programs. All will be provided for free, and we will care about their children’s education and safety. We have people who will watch our customers’ kids play freely here, and we also provide a sign up sheet for parents to monitor who can pick up their children.

SELF SERVICE AREA

In the Self Service Area, people can carry out cash and check transactions independently during extended hours — from 7am to 11pm, seven days a week. It is like an ATM but more safe, convenient and comfortable for our customers.
