The leader of the Free World‌. free from the Paris Agreement? Rather than just calling it a simple agreement between the parts we can describe the Paris Agreement as a method pro ecology. Signed on April 22, 2016 at the UN headquarters in New York, with the mere purpose to strengthen the global response to climate change by creating an international network of government bodies, all dedicated to lowering emissions, under former President Barack Obama's administration, by nearly 200 countries to curb global carbon emissions and contain global warming. Syria and Nicaragua were the only countries who did not join the Agreement. The agreement aims to increase the ability of countries to deal with the impacts of climate change, and at making finance flows consistent with a low GHG emissions and climate-resilient pathway. Global warming is a major problem on our days and many countries have compromised themselves to follow the framework the agreement establishes. We expect the powers to be the first ones to stay committed, but what happens when one of the powers, the leader of the Free World, decides to retreat from The Paris Agreement? Just in 2014, Americans produced about 258 million tons of solid waste, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. A little over half of the waste, 136 million tons, was gathered in landfills. Only about 34 percent was recycled or composted. According to WHO about 7 million premature deaths annually linked to air pollution worldwide. The factories and industries are affecting our health and are destroying our planet. The dispiriting part comes when we realize not all the politicians are conscient of this problem. Or even worse, they know the effects global warming is having in our world but will ignore the problem to protect the interests of the world`s elite. This problem occurs in every single country, from the poorest countries to the big powers. On Thursday June 1, 2017, Donald Trump, stated the withdrawal of the United States from the Agreement, reminding his people that he will put the nation`s interests and economy before anything else. Until today, many countries stay concerned thinking about the fact that the US withdrawal will have many consequences like the reduction in transference of technology or international finance that will one way or another its ticket to the environment. Donald Trump declared that the Paris Agreement was being very very unfair to the United Stated, whereas other countries like Russia or China weren`t given the same restraining factors as them. It could be a factor that matters, and all countries should be held accountable and responsible at the same level. To him, it was a bad deal.

On January from the present year, Trump said that there was a great possibility that United Stated could join the Agreement again. But said he “felt very strongly about the environment.” The Trump administration thinks there could be a negotiation, but countries like Germany, France, Italy, have already issued that the deal "cannot be renegotiated since it is a vital instrument for our planet, societies and economies." On his April visit to the Unites Stated, on his speech Macron announced that he was hopeful that one day the United Stated will come back and join the Paris Agreement, that it had all been a “short term disagreement.” Just like him, we are hopeful the super powers will come to a leveled agreement, and that Donald Trump will come with the other members to a negotiation. We should demand our world leaders to take conscience about global warming. We make a call to every single person to start doing a change in their own homes, in their lifestyles and be an example to the leaders. Let`s pray the Paris Agreement is just one of the many agreement to come related on solving the issue of global warming.
