Welcome to the 6th edition of the Miami Short Film Festival. Thank you for joining us to celebrate short film as an art form. We’re proud to have the University of Miami School of Communication as our presenting sponsor, this partnership will help to introduce new audiences to short films from all over the world. The Festival has continued to develop and expand with the support of people like you, the dedicated filmmakers who submit every year, and our generous sponsors. This year’s festival features a one of a kind selection of over 120 films from 17 countries and nearly 600 films were submitted for consideration, revealing the true spirit of this powerful art form and providing another year of excellent programming. Miami Short Film Festival has grown into more than just a weeklong film festival, with lectures and community workshops built into our yearly program we have become an unique and significant cultural event for Miami. In thanks to all of the submitting filmmakers our Grand Prize has grown to an impressive $12,000 award. And with the support of sponsors like Kodak, Manhattan Transfer Miami, and Miami Mayor’s Office of Film & Cultural Affairs amongst many others we’re able to provide prize packages to category winners that are meaningful to independent filmmakers.
