Fact Sheet  The Victims Resource Center is responsible for educating, advocating, and counseling victims of crime.

 The Wilkes-Barre office of the Victims Resource Center was established in 1979.  They provide many beneficial services to their clients, including: o A 24-Hour Hotline o Individual Counseling o Court Orientation o Information and Referral o Crisis Intervention o Advocacy for Victims Rights o Assistance with Crime Victims Compensation Claims o

Accompaniment to Hospitals, Police Stations and Court Proceedings

 VRC strives to educate the community about violence prevention through various community events and educational programs.  From July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009 in Luzerne County alone: o VRC held a total of 631 educational programs, which were attended by 17,243 individuals.


o VRC helped a total of 1,901 adult and child victims of sexual assault and other crimes, logging a total of 6,615 service hours.  Victims Resource Center offers their services free of charge, and does not discriminate based on gender, age, religion, orientation or race.  For their volunteers, VRC provides professional training programs for responding to sexual assault and domestic violence victims.
