The Wilkes-Barre office of the Victims Resource Center was established in 1979. Accompaniment to Hospitals, Police Stations and Court Proceedings
VRC strives to educate the community about violence prevention through various community events and educational programs. From July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009 in Luzerne County alone: o VRC held a total of 631 educational programs, which were attended by 17,243 individuals.
o VRC helped a total of 1,901 adult and child victims of sexual assault and other crimes, logging a total of 6,615 service hours. Victims Resource Center offers their services free of charge, and does not discriminate based on gender, age, religion, orientation or race. For their volunteers, VRC provides professional training programs for responding to sexual assault and domestic violence victims.
