This little slice of rural heaven offers everything you could possibly need right here, but we’re also positioned for a short 15-20 minute drive to the Southside, West End, and Downtown areas of Richmond for any other amenities and recreation you may desire

We highly recommend taking some time to drive around the area to get to know it and find some favorite new local spots In Powhatan, we pride ourselves on being home to many local businesses. Head to Powhatan Courthouse and grab a coffee at Rise & Grind, lunch at Maxey’s Store, then head over to Fine Creek Brewing for an afternoon of local fun and meeting new neighbors, just to name a few.

Hello, I’m Tracey McClung, Principal Broker and Co-Owner at Village Concepts Realty Group here in Powhatan. I then had the opportunity to work with relocation clients for many years and with this combined experience, I came to truly understand the differences in my clients’ needs With a foundation of old-fashioned traditions (hard work, integrity, and customer service) and a strong working knowledge of current real estate trends and technology, I provide sellers with an individualized marketing program and buyers with a personalized home portfolio. HISTORY

Size

The county consists of 272 square miles (174,800 acres) and has a population of 28,046 (per the 2010 U.S. census), a 25% increase from the 2000 population of 22,370. Powhatan ranks as one of the fastest growing localities in Virginia

Originally settled by French Huguenots in the early 1700s, Powhatan County was created by The Virginia General Assembly in 1777. The County was named in honor of the Indian Chief Powhatan, father of Pocahontas.

The original courthouse was constructed in 1778 and the immediate area was named Scottville after General Charles Scott, a revolutionary war hero In 1850 a small portion of Chesterfield County was annexed, creating the current boundaries of Powhatan County

Location

Located in Virginia's Central Piedmont between the Appomattox and James Rivers, Powhatan is 20 miles west of Richmond, the Commonwealth's capitol city, and is within an easy 2-hour drive from the Atlantic Ocean, Washington, D.C., Colonial Williamsburg, and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
