balance: harmonious relation of parts within a whole. “In all perfectly beautiful objects there is found the opposition of one part to another and a reciprocal balance.” -John Ruskin

redundancy: constellation. “the outcome depends on the configuration of influences at the time.”

‘transmorfiguration’ of two study models derived from Daniel Libeskind paintings into one layering model. ‘balance’ + ‘redundancy’

Design for pets as well as owners and the interaction that occurs between and amongst these groups. Planes resting at obtuse angles encourage interface between the two parties that are often separated by a predestined superiority. Areas with irregular angles in three dimensions signify an area designated solely for unruly canine interaction, such as the outdoor play yard. Areas with distortion in two axial directions, such as the walls of the underground that absorb the activation of the ground plane above , are designed for dogs and owners as co-dependent interactants. The third layer of interface is designed with owners in mind, introducing right angles and geometric architecture back into the upper level of the structure to reflect the social etiquette that distinguishes the behavior of humans from their pets. The architecture reflects the interaction it seeks to enforce, similar to a human training their dog. A3

With the rockite model from Project 3 in mind, the theme of interaction was carried through to Unleashed. The main gathering space of the building is the observation deck atop the set of reflected stairs, where human and animal interact with their respective species while the hierarchy between the two remains intact. The opening in the facade of the building reflects the interaction between dog and owner in its relationship of void to object--a separation exists, while visual contact remains constant in the same way that a series of voids exist within one apparent object.

The exploded axonometric shows the continuation of the opposing oculi through the verticality of the structure. These two oculi, converted to a set of facing staircases, act as the main structural component of the dog park as they were derived from Project 1, an investigation of the conversation between object and void. Carried into Project 4, this conversation shifts to one between human and animal, with the staircase serving as a transition between the social behavior of dogs to that of humans.
