Last Week I was at a technology conference for most of the week. While I was gone students worked on simplifying fractions and converting basic fractions to decimals and vice versa. When I returned we reviewed skills in the computer lab and conferenced with students about their Short Cycle results. Students really need to work on reading the questions carefully and ANSWERING WHAT IS BEING ASKED. We also started exploring some of the new technology tools I learned about (see Other Notes for details)
This Week This week we will be continuing to study fractions and decimals. This will also be the last week that I will PRINT and send out the Math Newsletter. The Newsletter will be available on our class website. If you do not have internet access and would like a paper copy, have your child ask, and I will allow them to print one during class. We will also be starting assignment sheets this week that are to be kept in the students’ take home folders or binders. Students will be required to write down ALL assignments.
Other Notes New Technology! I always come back from these conferences so motivated and excited to use new technology! I have created a class website and am working on a brand new Mespo Elementary Home Page. We will be using many new technologies in the classroom. (See pg 2 for more details and links) Parent Teacher Conferences are this week and are by appointment only. Please call the office if you wish to meet with me. I also encourage you to communicate with me via email on a regular basis concerning math class :)
