DESIGN EXPERIENCE • As a design assistant at Roundhouse Design, I often worked on client briefs with sales designers to create a kitchen or living area that was both functional and beautiful. I used Vectorworks to draw floor plans from architect’s drawings and then created detailed, technically accurate 2D elevations as well as high quality 3D renders using Renderworks. Other responsibilities included: specifying all the components for manufacture using product codes and contacting suppliers for worktop prices to provide clients with a quote. • Worked on a live university project with G Plan Upholstery in my second year at university, to reinvent the modern family sofa. My design was chosen as one of the top 5 on the course, to be developed further by the G Plan Upholstery Design team. • Collaborated with PrêtàMuse, a small startup magazine to create high quality 3D objects that were used for the set of a fashion photo shoot showcasing the recent work of Yun Yu a MA fashion design student. • Certified at associate level in Solidworks and skilled in Vectorworks, Renderworks, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
KEY SKILLS Interpersonal and Communication Skills • Guiding potential clients around the showroom and answering any questions about the company during architect, press & interior designer events at Roundhouse Design. • Building rapport while maintaining professionalism in order to secure a sale, as a member of the sales team at Sofa.com. • Maintaining great customer service in the high pressure, changing environment of a restaurant. • Excellent oral and written presentation skills, through regularly presenting and explaining the developments of my designs through to the final concept at university. Creativity • Challenging myself with difficult briefs in the final year of my degree, required ample research and lateral thinking in order to produce prototypes within the confines of the course, while still staying true to my initial aims. • Developing a variety of concepts through quick sketching and 3D modelling leading up to the final realisation. Team Work • Working with my colleagues to plan and manage our workload in order to finish jobs before client meetings as a design assistant. • Collaborating with my sales team at Sofa.com to gain sales and to maintain the store. • Waitressing it was vital to work as part of a team to ensure orders are correct, tables were cleared seamlessly and that the bills were accurate, so every service runs as smoothly as possible. Administration • Logging and processing brochure requests, maintaining the company enquiries email, as well as keeping essential items stocked up around the showroom were all part of my role as a design assistant. Responsibility • Minding a child oversees for 35 hours a week, who couldn’t speak any English was a hard task. Quickly learning basic Italian was an enormous challenge and looking after a 4-year-old girl carried a lot of responsibility, but it was an experience I thrived in and was invited to return.
