In January of 2018 the Meeker Recreation Center (MRC) will be celebrating ten years in operation. On Friday, January 12, MRC will host a FREE COMMUNITY DAY EVENT full of contests, giveaways, special fitness class demos, drop-in childcare, and more. ERBM is proud of the positive impact the facility has had throughout our community over the last decade, especially in the lives of individuals, families, and the community. Event details can be found on page 11. Here is what a few frequent users recently had to say about their experience at MRC. What does the MRC mean to you and your family?

,,

MRC has allowed me to accomplish my fitness goals thanks to the loving help of the Tot-Spot childcare staff. Knowing my 2-year-old is safe gives me the small amount of time to work on something for myself. MRC is one part of what makes Meeker a special place to live.

MRC is a clean, safe, fun, and positive environment for me and my children.

As a single person it means building friendships with classmates and instructors, learning new skills and gaining nutritional insights– keeping this older body in motion!

MRC is such an important part of our family, giving us wonderful memories that will last a lifetime.

What do you believe is MRC’s greatest contribution to the community? Opportunities to be involved in sports and recreation at a very young age. MRC is a community asset that very few towns of this size can duplicate.

Diverse and affordable programs… it’s a huge selling point for people moving into the community.

Offering a place to exercise year round… it’s invaluable to health and well-being.

,, ,,

,,

Public parks and recreation are important drivers of public health and economic viability in any community, but especially in a remote, rural community like Meeker. Thanks for your involvement and support of the MRC over the last ten years and please join us in celebrating this great community asset during our anniversary event.

DISTRICT SPOTLIGHT

Sean VonRoenn Executive Director

ERBM EMPLOYEE OF THE QUARTER Kim Kendall, Recreation Coordinator, is a dynamic and personable member of the ERBM team who seamlessly oversees children’s programs (her favorite), early morning watering of planters throughout town, to afternoon, evening, and weekend coverage at the wide variety of activities and events offered by the District. She does all of this and more with a positive, humble, and proactive attitude, while maintaining awareness of and responsiveness to the needs of her co-workers and community members. If you have attended any ERBM programs or events over the last few years you probably have received a friendly smile or helping hand from Kim at some point. Please join us in thanking Kim for her exemplary performance and service!
