MEEKER DAYS– In conjunction with the OHV Rendezvous and working collaboratively with Pioneers Medical Center and the Chamber of Commerce to support our Pioneer’s Health Foundation, ERBM will be hosting a variety of community activities July 14 and 15, including: Yoga in the Park, Adventure Dash, Day Hike, concert, and much more, check out pages 18-19 for more details; we encourage giving generously to this great cause. Want to learn about bike maintenance, safety, etiquette, riding technique, or perhaps just hook up with other enthusiasts for a group ride? Well ERBM has you covered, check out page 15 for all the info. Finally, two closures to be aware of include our annual maintenance shut down here at the Meeker Recreation Center which will take place on August 7-20 for the pool and August 17-20 for the full facility. The extended closure for the pools this year is to recoat the plaster surfaces which must be preventatively addressed about every 8-12 years. Also, Town Park will be closed throughout the summer as we complete the final phase of improvements to the parking lot, activity areas and walkways. We look forward to re-opening the park to the community in September.

POOL FAQ For the safety of all patrons, please refer to these answers to some frequently asked questions. Can my children swim alone? • 5 and under must be within arm's reach of a person that is at least 13 years of age. • 6 and 7 year-olds and non-swimmers (those in swim vests) must stay in the same pool as a person that is at least 13 years of age. • 6 and 7 year-olds that have passed the swim test may stay in MRC pools unaccompanied. Person that is at least 13 years of age must remain in the facility.

SWIM LESSONS The ERBM Recreation & Park District offers American Red Cross swim lessons throughout the year at the Meeker Recreation Center Pool. Visit each age category in this Line-Up for details on the current group swim lessons for your child!

Ages 6 months-5 years: Page 22-23 Ages 6-17: Page 24

How many children can I bring to the pool? • Zero-Depth Pool A person (13+) may supervise up to three children under 8 years old. • Leisure and Lap Pools A person (13+) may supervise up to two children under 8 years old.

One-on-one and semi-private instruction allows students to receive more feedback and attention from one of our experienced instructors. Students generally progress at a faster rate in private lessons.

Why are showers required before I swim? • Due to the high pH levels in personal hygiene products (shampoos, deodorants, lotions, etc.), chemical imbalances may occur in the pool.

Our certified instructors are available to teach all skill levels. Lessons will be scheduled based on instructor and pool availability.

Children must wear swim diapers until they are 100% toilet trained. Wristbands will be distributed to children under 8. For more information contact Guest Services.

Private Lessons

Call the Aquatics Department to schedule a private lesson at 970-878-7435 or 970-878-7434.

Don't forget to sign up for year-long aquatic challenges! The sooner you sign up, the sooner you can get to your goal! More information at www.MeekerRecDistrict.com.

ANNUAL SHUTDOWN

ERBM Recreation & Park District Info

CENTER UPDATES

Each year MRC must close for critical maintenance that cannot be performed around normal operations. For a variety of reasons, this year’s building and pool closure times have been moved to August. The extended closure for the pools this year (and likely in 2018 as well), is to resurface the plaster surfaces of the pools which must be completed about every 10 years. MRC opened in 2008 and is experiencing normal wear and tear that must be preventatively addressed in order to avoid more costly repairs in the future. The ERBM Board and management determined a late summertime pool closure to be preferable based on usage trends (heaviest indoor usage is during cold weather months); formal programming (swim team, lessons) which must take place in spring and early summer; scheduling subcontractors and lead times necessary to accomplish work within calendar budget year that starts in January; and, ERBM being at full staff in late summer with seasonal and part-time labor to accommodate all of the maintenance work that must occur. This year’s pool resurfacing project is being completed in as tight a time period as possible to minimize the impact on operations, and we thank you for your patience and understanding as we complete these and many other much needed refurbishments. We look forward to seeing you, your family, and out of town visitors here at the Meeker Recreation Center soon. Please contact our ERBM District offices at 970-878-3403 if we can answer any further questions you have about the closure.

Pool Closed: August 7-20

Center Closed: August 17-20
