The so called ‘lazy days of summer’ always seem to pass us by here at ERBM as we keep busy ensuring that you and your family have numerous opportunities for a fun and active warm weather season. Mark your calendar for these great days happening in Meeker this summer: • Saturday, June 11th – Park to Art 10k at the Meekerpalooza Festival Don’t miss this exciting race course through the trails and town, get some great swag, see some art (including our Metal Art Competition), and receive FREE festival entry. Make it a full day of activity and enjoy the concerts all evening! • July 4th Weekend – 5K/Rodeo Kids Events/Main St. Madness/Coed Softball Tournament As always, ERBM will host a variety of events throughout the Range Call weekend. Check event flyers for more details or pages 14-15 in this brochure. • Saturday, July 23rd – Community Appreciation Day/ERBM District's 35th Anniversary Celebration The Center may be closed, but there will be something for everyone downtown this year, including: the Paintbrush Rush Color Run, scavenger hunt, Farmers Market, volleyball tournament, concert, free lunch, a clown, inflatables, and lots of PRIZES…seriously, what more could anyone ask for!

Community Appreciation Day

Check out our Community Events and programming sections for more details on these events as well as information on: Colorado Rockies Skills Challenge, Youth Fishing Day, NEW Saturday Morning Swim Lesson Session (pages 18, 19, and 22), outdoor activities, active adult trips, t-ball, adult coed softball, and so much more.

In addition to events and programs, our Facilities Maintenance Department has been hard at work prepping and caring for our parks and has some exciting CONSTRUCTION UPDATES:

ERBM Recreation & Park District Info

DISTRICT SPOTLIGHT

• Sage Hills Park – Outdated and unusable tennis courts have been removed and grass turf will be seeded this season to provide a more friendly and usable public gathering space at this neighborhood park location. • Paintbrush Park Ballfields – Significant improvements to concrete walkways, drainage areas, and underground plumbing was installed to provide year round heated restrooms. • Town Park – The final phases of construction for the many planned improvements at Town Park will be delayed until this Fall to accommodate work along the river bank while the water is at its lowest level with final completion anticipated in 2017. So go ahead and plan your family gathering and firework viewing as normal this year and we’ll keep you up to speed on future schedule updates! The National Recreation & Park Association recently stated in their 2016 Field Report that on average there is one park for every 1,335 residents in communities with less than 20,000 residents. In Meeker, we have approximately 1 public park for every 312 residents! So let’s get out there and enjoy all the events, programs, and park amenities that we at ERBM are proud to maintain and provide for the residents, visitors, and future generations of Eastern Rio Blanco County. When astronauts blast off from the planet Mars they leave behind Mark Watney (Matt Damon), presumed dead after a fierce storm. With only a meager amount of supplies, the stranded visitor must utilize his wits and spirit to find a way to survive on the hostile planet. Meanwhile, back on Earth, members of NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring him home, while his crew mates hatch their own plan for a daring rescue mission. Rated PG 13.

Living large and loving life, Po (Jack Black) realizes that he has a lot to learn if he's going to fulfill the net challenge from his beloved instructor (Dustin Hoffman). After reuniting with his long-lost father, Po must transition from student to teacher and train a group of funloving, clumsy pandas to become martial-arts fighters. Together, the kung-fu brethren unite to take on the evil Kai, a supernatural warrior who becomes stronger with each battle. Rated PG.

Adonis Johnson never knew his famous father, boxing champion Apollo Creed, who died before Adonis was born. However, boxing is in his blood, so he seeks out Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) and asks the retired champ to be his trainer. Rocky sees much of Apollo in Adonis, and agrees to mentor him, even as he battles a deadly opponent in the ring. With Rocky's help, Adonis soon gets a title shot, but whether he has the true heart of a fighter remains to be seen. Rated PG 13.
