ERBM Recreation & Park District

ERBM has many notable programs and projects that are often highlighted in this spotlight letter. However, there is also outstanding staff working behind the scenes every day to make our recreation and park district system the wonderful asset that it is today. The hard working and passionate professionals that make up the ERBM team serve day in and day out with a constant aim to improve well-being and promote a vibrant community for the residents, visitors, and future generations of Eastern Rio Blanco County. ERBM is proud to employ a diverse workforce of 23 full-time staff, and anywhere from 15-30 part-time and seasonal staff at any given time. These staff members perform a wide variety of critical functions in the following areas:

purchasing, information technology, compliance related functions, Human Resources, and safety and risk management. This department includes Guest Services personnel, who are available 93 hours a week to our Meeker Recreation Center users, and Marketing, who produces the invaluable quarterly Line-Up guide as well as maintains the District’s website, social media, advertisements, and promotions.

The Park and Facility Management side of ERBM is built upon yearround and seasonal staff. The maintenance, operations, and custodial personnel deploy a wide range of trade knowledge and skills to ensure that guests who visit our nine local parks and related facilities enjoy a seamless and safe experience. Whether it is fulfilling routine tasks such as mowing grass, shoveling snow, emptying trash, or affecting more technical repairs and improvement projects, these fundamental duties are integral to keeping the park and recreation district operating at a high level.

DISTRICT SPOTLIGHT

Finally, most visible, the Recreation Department consists of an outgoing group of program-focused and community-minded staff members. They manage a broad portfolio of activity offerings targeted toward all ages and abilities which include: aquatics, athletics, fitness, youth and adult enrichment, dance, gymnastics, and numerous special events. This Fall Line-Up is a great example of that enthusiasm and energy, with unique opportunities such as: the new School’s Out Meeker Enrichment (SOME) After School program, Tri the Trails Triathlon, National Public Lands Day, Fall Festival, and Pumpkin Eats ‘n Treats just to name a few.

In our small, but strong community you probably know many of the names or faces of our collective ERBM team. Each one of these individuals is a co-creator in making ERBM a service driven and successful organization. Please join me in recognizing and appreciating their great work! From all of us here, have a wonderful fall season and start to the new school year!
