ERBM Recreation and Park District is pleased to announce that a contract has been awarded for the construction of the second phase of renovation improvements to Town Park, which will include: river wayside access points, walkway connections, concrete parking lot, activity promenade with a basketball court, volleyball court, and horseshoe pits, as well as enhancements to lighting, fencing, drainage, and much more. Once completed, these amenities will provide an exceptional park experience to residents and visitors alike, but please be aware that there will be a prolonged closure of the park throughout the project. Work will begin this fall with riverbank stabilization while the river is at its lowest flow and continue on into spring and summer of 2017. Follow along on our ERBM District website and Facebook pages for ongoing details and updates. Speaking of park enhancements, after some heating upgrades to the Sanderson Hills and Paintbrush Park restrooms, these facilities will now be open year-round to accommodate park users during the cooler weather season. Town Park restroom will also be open yearround once renovations are complete. There have been other noticeable park improvements this year such as the removal of the old tennis courts at Sage Hills General Town Park Improvement Plan Park with the installation of sod (See this diagram larger at www.MeekerRecDistrict.com.) to create a usable park space for the neighborhood, and there are also significant improvements to concrete walkways and ballfield concession building at Paintbrush Park.

DISTRICT SPOTLIGHT

There’s also plenty of new programming innovations to be aware of this fall, including: Stand Up Paddleboarding (pg. 27), loads of great fitness classes, like Spoga (Yoga/Spin - pg. 27) , Karate (pg. 23 & 31), expanded Pickleball hours (pg. 30) , and if you’re interested in getting started on a workout routine you’ll definitely want to sign up for the Introductory Fit Room program (pg. 29). No excuses for anyone needing childcare either as our drop-in Tot Spot will now be operating at both the Recreation Center and at the Admin. Building during key fitness class times (pg. 5). There truly is something for everyone here at ERBM, so come find your fit this fall.

Can my children swim alone? • 6 and under must be within arm's reach of an adult that is at least 13 years of age. • 7 and 8 year-olds and non-swimmers (those in swim vests) must stay in the same pool as an adult that is at least 13 years of age. • 7 and 8 year-olds that have passed the swim test may stay in MRC pools unaccompanied. How many children can I bring to the pool? • Zero-Depth Pool An adult may supervise up to three children under 8 years old. • Leisure and Lap Pools An adult may supervise up to two children under 8 years old. Why are showers required before I swim? • Due to the high pH levels in personal hygiene products (shampoos, deodorants, lotions, etc.), chemical imbalances may occur in the pool. Start Smart is a proven instructional program that prepares children for the world of organized sports without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Maximum of two children per adult/caregiver.
