Sizzlin’ Summer Saturdays 2301 N. Central Ave. 602-252-8848

Mahalo Mondays 4700 N. Central Ave. 602-265-8454

One man’s—or in this case woman’s—empty lot is another man’s art venue. Located in the Grand Avenue district, First Backyard is the brainchild of Jen Urso, a local artist who has transformed her backyard into performance space, art exchange and social launchpad. Watch out for monthly events filled with unique opportunities for creative expression.

There’s no question July in Phoenix is a scorcher. Thankfully, Sizzlin’ Summer Saturdays at the Heard Museum is the perfect place to keep the kiddos cool on a hot summer day. From July 3 to 31, kids can enjoy hands-on activities, scavenger hunts and goody bags, while learning about Native American culture.

There are Mondays and then there are Mahalo Mondays at Hula’s Modern Tiki. Owners Dana Mule and Chris Delaney have teamed up with local nonprofits to give downtowners a cool place to unwind on a Monday night—all for a good cause. With 10 percent of the evening’s proceeds benefiting the community, we’ll say cheers to that!
