SHOOTING STARS The founder of St Leonardsbased video production company Wildhorse Films is directing her first feature film. Philippa Waddell was approached by Devon-based Dark Light Films who were looking for a regional female director for The Knockout, which looks at the relationship between a retired widow, a taxi driver and a homeless girlturned-champion-kickboxer. Says Philippa: “I loved the script and jumped at the opportunity to be part of a feature being filmed in the

South West. Pre-production funding has been raised and we are looking for further funding for the production, which we are hoping to start early 2019.” The feature film follows the recent screening of Wildhorse’s latest documentary on mustangs – part of its Equus Worldwide series for Horse & Country TV – for which Philippa was given unparalleled access to renowned California horse trainer Monty Roberts, who has worked for the Queen. BUSINESSES ENCOURAGED TO GET CREATIVE FOR AWARDS As momentum continues to build for the Exeter Living Awards, local businesses are encouraged to get involved – and there are plenty of ways to do so. With the überglam business event now less than six months away, companies can show their support and align their brand with the Exeter Living Awards in a variety of ways. “A great way to get on board with Exeter’s biggest business event is through sponsorship,” explains Steph Dodd, events director at MediaClash, Exeter Living’s publisher. “Sponsors benefit from an unrivalled long-term marketing campaign which peaks in March.” But organisers are also keen to hear from companies who may have creative ways to partner with the Awards. “As well as backing one of our categories, businesses can also sponsor our shoulder events, which include the Finalists’ & Sponsors’ Reception, the champagne reception on Awards night and our Winners’ Dinner,” says Steph. “Or if your business is launching a new product or service and you think we could work well together, get in touch!” The 2018 Awards saw a glittering ceremony with over 500 guests in attendance, and more on the waiting list. The Awards were trending on Twitter, such was the huge interest in them. Those hoping to become finalists are also encouraged to begin considering their entries, with nominations opening on 9 November. The Awards are free to enter, and companies can enter multiple categories.
