Neighborhood news Spring has Arrived

Pools Opening Soon

As you are getting this edition of the Meadows Living, spring is just around the corner. We hope the last of the snow is gone.  Since the last newsletter, we now have a newly-elected group of dedicated volunteers serving as your District Delegates.  As always, it is great working with them.  We’d also like to thank everyone for voting for this year’s annual District Delegate election so that we could achieve quorum and also a big thank you for the owners who were in attendance at the Annual Members Meeting.  We had a quantity of guest speakers at our meeting this year and it was a very informative and productive meeting.    Warmer weather equals increased pedestrian traffic along Meadows Neighborhood Company streets.  Please remember to maintain a safe speed throughout the community, obey all posted speed limit signs, and watch carefully for pedestrians. I also ask that pedestrians exercise caution as well by checking both ways before crossing the street and crosswalks when possible, just to be sure that the oncoming vehicular traffic sees you before crossing.   We’ve received a few reports lately of vehicles not stopping and rolling through lights or stop signs and almost striking the pedestrians crossing the roadways.  Remember to also reduce your speed at times of poor visibility (inclement weather, nighttime, etc.).  Failing to stop is a driving offense and would constitute a ticket but is also exceptionally dangerous for all vehicles on the roadways.    The Meadows boasts many areas for residents who enjoy spending time in the great outdoors. There are walking/ hiking trails, biking trails, swimming, the dog park, and a lot of fun upcoming events planned to keep your family entertained and allow you to spend some quality time with your loved ones in the process.  Enjoy the amenities and have some fun in the sun on the trails or at one of the numerous parks throughout the community.   Have a great spring!

Spring is finally here and that means the Meadows Neighborhood Company (MNC) pools will be opening soon! The MNC has two swimming pool facilities. They are located at The Grange (3692 Meadows Blvd.) and the Taft House (3570 Celestial Ave.) The pool season starts Memorial Day weekend with the pools opening for the season on Saturday, May 23rd. The pools will remain open for the summer and the last day of operation will be on Labor Day which is Monday, September 7th. Please continue reading this newsletter because we have a great article with lots of useful pool information. We also have information available on our website at www. meadowslink.com. You can access it by clicking on the Amenities tab at the top of the page and then selecting the pool information from the drop down menu. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone at the pools this spring/summer!

Neighborhood news Exterior Painting Guidelines

By: Barbara Doyle |Community Standards Specialist bdoyle@meadowslink.com Painting season is here, and many homeowners are anxious to schedule their painting projects. However, before you pull out the paint brushes or hire a painting contractor, please keep in mind that all exterior painting must be approved by the Architectural Review Committee (ARC) in advance, even if you are painting the existing colors. When painting your home, the main requirement is that you maintain the original color matrix of the home. This means that if you have a 3-color matrix (body, trim, punch) or a 4-color matrix (body 1, body 2, trim, punch), it must remain a 3-color or 4-color matrix. You are welcome to submit a new color scheme of your choice, which you feel would be complementary to your home and the neighborhood. When reviewing your submittal for approval, the Architectural Review Committee will take into consideration the style of your home, the color of any existing stone or brick on the home, the color of the roof, as well as the colors of your adjacent neighbors’ homes. Following are the items that need to be submitted for all painting projects: 1) A completed ARC Application Form, which is available at the Taft House or Grange or can be found on our website

at www.meadowslink.com – MNC Info – Architectural Review Information – ARC Application. 2) Actual samples of the proposed colors delivered or mailed to the Taft House or The Grange. 3) A picture or sketch of your home showing where each of the colors will be applied so the Committee can see that the original matrix is being maintained. 4) Developed color photographs of the front of your house and the back of your house, including the deck or patio. If you have a deck with any wood, vertical surfaces, i.e., railings, fascia board, support posts, etc., indicate if they will be painted the color of the house or the trim. 5) Developed color photographs of the front of your adjacent neighbors’ homes on your left, on your right and directly across the street. If you have questions or need further clarification regarding the exterior painting approval process, please feel free to contact me.

Sponsor Events in the Meadows

By: Taylor Brown | Recreation Supervisor tbrown@meadowslink.com Do you have your own company or do you think the company you work for would be interested in sponsoring with the Meadows? If so, the Meadows sells sponsorships two ways. Sponsorships may be purchased for individual events or as part of a group package. We have 3 group packages which we call Bronze, Silver, and Gold. There are many perks to becoming a Meadows event sponsor but the main draw is that you get to come to the Meadows events and market your products and services directly to the local community. Sponsorships include the company logo in all marketing material for the event, a booth at the event and emcee recognition! For pricing and additional information, contact the Recreation Supervisor, Taylor Brown at tbrown@meadowslink.com or 303-814-3953.

Recreational Offerings Survey

By: Molly Gigax | Assistant Recreation Coordinator mgigax@meadowslink.com The Meadows Neighborhood Company is conducting a recreational offerings survey to get a better understanding of community needs in respect to recreation and leisure activities. We want to meet the ever evolving needs and interests of our residents and provide you with the classes you want to see for yourself and family! The survey can be found at www.meadowslink.com under the Programs and Events Tab. We thank you in advance for your time.

Every member of your household who will be using the pool must have their picture taken at The Grange or Taft House for identification purposes. As always, owners must be current on assessments in order to enjoy use of the pool. There is no charge for a pool pass if you are a MNC resident. Pool registration is available during regular business hours and will continue throughout the pool season. You may download the registration form from Meadowslink.com. All About Trash We have a contract with Waste Management for our trash services here in The Meadows Neighborhood Company. There are some requirements that will take all of our efforts to assist Waste Management’s efficiency in trash collection by utilizing all the fully mechanized, current automatic collection capabilities. One of the requirements is all the trash must be contained in a Waste Management provided trash cart to allow the truck to pick up the can and collect the garbage with its mechanized arms, which will no longer require the driver to get out at every house to load up all the trash that is on the curb. Additional bags and boxes full of trash curbside will not be available for pickup, without calling WM, scheduling, and paying for the larger trash service. Customers who have already purchased 2nd trash or recycle carts may continue to use them at no charge, but no refunds will be issued on the previously purchased equipment. If you need more than two trash carts, or two recycling carts, there will be a fee for any additional carts that are needed at a property. All leaf and yard waste must be disposed of in the carts. Cardboard boxes will still be picked up, but they must be flattened, and placed next to your cart on either regular trash day or recycling day. Service will remain on Friday. Any missed pickups reported on Friday prior to close of business, shall be collected on Saturday. If your pickup was inadvertently missed, please contact jvalley@meadowslink.com. To request a bulk pickup, please call 303-797-1600. We ask for your assistance, and to help us become more efficient, order your additional carts and start placing all trash inside the carts for pickup.

Saturday, May 9 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm Spring is here and The Meadows Neighborhood Company has created an event to make your spring cleaning much easier! The event is free but it is only open to Meadows Residents. Participants will need to bring their key fob or driver’s license with a Meadows address to verify their residency. It will be held in The Grange parking lot and we will have multiple stations available to handle all of your spring cleaning needs. Please note the event is on a first come, first served basis. Due to demand of this event and the growing community, we have a one-car load per household limit. If we reach capacity at a drop off station we may not be able to accept your items. Below is a list of our drop off stations with what we can and cannot accept. Paper Shredding – A mobile paper shredding truck will be on site where you can watch your documents get shredded. There is a limit of 3 banker’s sized cardboard boxes per person. Medication Drop Off Site – The Castle Rock Police Department will be hosting a booth where you can safely dispose of prescription medications, over the counter medications, ointments, and pet medications. They cannot accept liquids, radioactive medications, needles, aerosol cans, thermometers, or illegal drugs. They suggest that you place medications in a plastic baggie and that you mark out your name and identifying information on the prescription bottles. Electronic Recycling – A truck will be available that can recycle old electronics such as computers, laptops, printers, and cell phones. This station cannot accept T.V.’s or large appliances. Project Recycle Bike Drive – We will be working in collaboration with Project Recycle who is a local nonprofit organization that provides bikes to underprivileged families. If you have a used bicycle you no longer want please consider donating it.

Trash – There will be several large trash bins available to accommodate your general trash. Information on what can’t be thrown away in these bins is listed below. Recycling – A large recycling container will be on site where you can recycle most of your household items. All cardboard must be broken down and flattened before it is put in this container. Information on what can’t be thrown away in this bin is listed below. Items We Cannot Accept Donation Items: Due to donation trucks/companies not offering their special event services anymore, we cannot accept donation items. Castle Rock now has a Good Will store just a few miles up the road. If you have donation items, please plan to take them to the Good Will store. 335 Barranca Dr., Castle Rock, CO 80104 No T.V.s of any kind. – Electronic Recycle cannot accept T.V.s and they are not allowed in the dumpsters. Additional Items Not Accepted: Hazardous waste or chemicals of any kind, soil, sod, rocks, uncut or untied branches (all branches must be cut into 4 foot lengths or less and tied together in a bundle no more than 12 inches in diameter and leaves and grass clippings need to be bagged), bricks, concrete, building materials, auto parts, liquid waste, fire extinguishers, propane tanks, paint, stains, insecticides, tires, and car batteries. There may be other items that are not accepted at the discretion of the Meadows Neighborhood Company. Special Note: Due to demand of this event and the growing community, we have a one-car load per household limit. This event is intended to be used for the benefit of the Meadows residents. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who is “abusing the system” which would result in our resources not being available for everyone. June 25 – Titonic June 11 – John Saunders Band Formed in the spring of 2012, The John Saunders Band captures the combination of the laid back rhythms of Jack Johnson and solid drive of Big Head Todd and the Monsters, creating a unique sound we call “The Colorado Groove”. July 9 – The Country Music Project The Country Music Project can be seen on any given weekend performing traditional country from artists like Merle Haggard, George Jones, or Tammy Wynette, and filling up dance floors on some of Colorado’s best music venues. But you’ll also see them perform today’s Top 40 country from artists like Lady Antebellum, The Band Perry, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood or Dierks Bentley.

Titonic is an 8 piece Funk/Soul/R&B (with horns) band. With their killer vocals, thumpin’ rhythm section and groovy horns, you do not want to miss them get funky. So bring your dancing shoes and shake a tail feather or two, because Titonic will play hits from artist such as Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, and Tower of Power to name a few. Guaranteed to bring down the house.

July 23 – Ronnie Raygun and the Big Eighties Ronnie Raygun and the Big Eighties got their start as an eighties tribute band in 1998 when they rolled into Denver as Boogie Machine, The Super 70’s Disco Dynamo. As Denver’s FIRST eighties tribute band they created a spark that would change the local music scene for years to come. To this day, even though Denver has a slew of bands playing eighties music, Ronnie Raygun is Colorado’s ORIGINAL Eighties Tribute Band!
