design philosophy

Good design has everything to do with the end consumer. The client should feel that the place they inhabit is an extension of themselves and as designers, it is our job to create these extensions of our clients.

EAST VILLAGE APARTMENT

C O N C E P T

S P A C E

There is something about the Colonial East Coast in Autumn that feels cozy, and full of warmth. The client living in this charming apartment would wake up to that same cozy feeling every day. By using materials such as hardwood floors, traditional subway tiles, and paneling on columns and walls, the essence of New England’s forests and coastal towns will be fixed to this space. Rich colors, pulled straight from the colonial coast side, like slate blueberry blues, hickory and walnut browns, off whites, burnt orange, brilliant autumn reds, and cool coastal grays will transform the industrial space into an Autumn East Coast home. By staying true to the subtleties of the New England Coast, using the neutrals for most surface detailing on the floors, back splashes and walls, and furniture, will make a perfect canvas for pops of New England Autumn colors. The space should transport you to drinking cozy autumn hot chocolate, fireplace warmth and a crisp sea breeze.

SERENBE RETREAT HOME

C O N C E P T

P R O C E S S

The emotion of a space is abstract, the flow of a space is abstract, and more-so space is abstract. The idea that elements such as lines and spaces and proportions and variation creates a well designed piece of art inspires the style of the home. The idea of white backdropping the space will be essential to have the emphasis on the details and finishes of the space. Like with abstract modern art, I want the inhabitants of this house to feel something when they are in the space even if they cannot pick out the reasons. Subtly using colors and a variety of finishes on architectural details and furnishings will be essential. To bring the couple together with their families, friends, and each other the space will be well planned out, functional and flowing. While incorporating a large outdoor living space entertain ing will be successful in this home. In order to create a sense of division in the ground level, keeping the public spaces like the living room and the kitchen and dining open to each other is important. I will achieve this openness by having large wall arches and openings between rooms; I want all of the spaces to be accessible visually. The use of walls will be important for dividing the spaces slightly and to ensure there is plenty of room for artwork.

AGNESE LAZZERINI, a recent graduate of the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) of Fashion Design, has a LAID-BACK, inviting, bold personality. Her line is a materialization of her personality which has been shaped by her life in Rome and her experiences and roots in Vietri, on the Amalfi Coast of Italy. The inspirations from Vietri are rooted in the COLOR, ceramics, GLASS, MOSAICS, and the glaze of the pottery. As a sketch artist by nature, Agnese loves art. As a designer, she is more drawn to CONTEMPORARY styles and prefers this over traditional design. The designer has a sole interest in MEN’S FASHION.

COLOR, being so key to the brand, will find it’s way into the store with restricted impact. As the clothes embrace color fully, we offer a juxtaposition with subtle neutrals and the use of colors in restricted manners. As a men’s luxury retail space, comfort is also important; comfortability, being the essence of luxury. Present will be the use of a custom tailoring space, a lounge area, and the integration of a bar. To set a relaxed and laid back AMBIANCE, lighting will be mainly task and ambient being brighter in selling spaces and deeper in intimate spaces. Forefront to our concept is the idea of fragments. FRAGMENTS can be abstracted and used at different scales, for floor designs, wall art installations, ceiling panels, shelf design, or even in a terrazzo counter top. The idea of fragments is the common thread tying this space together. One large scale installation of fragments will be an art work that fuses arts and architecture.

Project Requirements:

The luxury flagship store must include the auxiliary space, back of the house, entry space, selling space, and a space for check out.

New Construction Requirements:

The existing structural walls are not to be removed. Must have an auxiliary space, our decision is Bar.

Within Panama there exists the indigenous practice of Mola weaving which involves the weaving of painted fabrics together to create a textile. Within our space we wish to weave the residents of our community into Panama Pacifico and the culture of Panama overall. Each neighborhood will weave those of different economic statuses together by having varying levels of value ($). Each neighborhood will also have a unique neighborhood center that will pull the other neighborhoods in; the neighborhoods will have unique color schemes for their interiors, too. By placing high priority on sustainable practice, and taking traditional design ideas, such as the Molas, we plan to abstract a modern but impactful design for the community.

Photography is a way of capturing moments in time. While traveling, you will always remember the big picture, but my goal with photography is to capture the little moments which took my breath away and left me in awe. This collection from my travels is a personal reminder of moments that left impressions in my life and on my expeiences.

As a natural observer, direct interaction with people has not been an easy thing for me to overcome. With portraiture, it offers not only myself a challenge to become more unconstrained in interactions, but to allow those I photograph to find their confidence also. Creating portraits that encapture how those I photograph feel within, is powerful. Success is allowing their inner beauty, along with outer beauty, to shine in a photograph that both myself, and the subject, are proud of.

PORTRAITURE

Decorating cakes has become a creative outlet. I started with experimenting with cupcakes thoughout my adolescent years. I later went on to selling cakes for graduations and events my first year of college. My most recent cakes have been given to close friends and family for celebrations. This creative outlet has taught me to pay more attention to detail, have more artistic control, and how to problem solve without starting over.

CAKE DECORATING

“We spend 87 per cent of our lives inside buildings, how they are designed really affects how we feel, how we behave. Design is not just a visual thing, it’s a thought process, a skill. Ultimately design is a skill to enhance our humanity. It’s a frame for life.” -Isle Crawford
