GEORGETOWN’S SENIOR DUO AMONG HEADLINERS ON 2010-2011 NATIONAL ALL-JESUIT MEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM April 25, 2011 A pair of players from Georgetown University, which spent a good part of the season among the top teams in the country, and a plethora of guards, highlight the 2010-2011 National All-Jesuit Men’s Basketball Team, as announced today by the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities and the Jesuit Basketball Spotlight. Hoyas Austin Freeman (Sr., G, 6-3) and Chris Wright (Sr., G, 6-1) are joined by three players who earned All-America honors on three levels: Atlantic 10 Player of the Year Tu Holloway (Xavier, Jr., G, 6-0) in Division I, Landmark Conference Player of the Year Zach Ashworth (Scranton, Sr., G, 6-2) in Division III, and SSAC Divisional Player of the Year Ryan Brock (Loyola New Orleans, Sr., G, 6-3) in NAIA. They also represent five of the nine guards on the All-Jesuit squad. The five aforementioned players are joined on the All-Jesuit Team by Kevin Foster (So., G, 6-2) who led Santa Clara to the CIT Postseason Tournament championship; Reggie Jackson (Boston College, Jr., G, 6-3); Darius Johnson-Odom (Marquette, Jr., G, 6-2); Doug McDermott (Fr., F, 6-6) who led Creighton to the CBI Postseason championship game; and Derek Needham (Fairfield, So., G, 5-11). Eight of the 10 players earned first-team all-conference honors. Four of the eight players who received honorable-mention status also received first-team all-conference accolades. The All-Jesuit Team represents student-athletes from the 28 Jesuit colleges spread across the United States that play basketball on all three levels of the NCAA and also in the NAIA. They share the mission of Jesuit education, founded nearly 500 years ago under the principles of St. Ignatius Loyola to educate young people to become men and women dedicated to service and compassionate leadership. 2010-2011 NATIONAL ALL-JESUIT MEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM

Zach Ashworth – Scranton (Sr., G, 6-2, Doylestown, PA) Earned a spot on the NABC/State Farm Coaches’ All-America Second Team after being named to the All-Middle Atlantic Region first team by D3hoops.com…. Honored as the Landmark Conference Player of the Year for the second straight year after leading the Royals to the regular-season and tournament championships and an NCAA tournament berth…. Placed in the top 30 in Division III in scoring with his 20.8 average, while also being among the national leaders in three-point shooting…. Reached double figures in scoring in all 26 games and had at least 20 points 15 times…. Honored as one of 10 finalists for the Jostens Trophy given to the most outstanding student-athlete in Division III…. Named to the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team (college division)…. Earned a spot on the National Jesuit Honor Roll five times.

Ryan Brock – Loyola New Orleans (Sr., G, 6-3, New Orleans, LA) Named to the NAIA Division I All-America second team…. Earned a spot on the SSAC All -Conference Team and was selected as the SSAC Divisional Player of the Year…. Made the SSAC All-Tournament squad after leading the Wolfpack to the tourney semifinals…. Averaged 22.2 points per game, the fourth highest average in NAIA…. Reached double figures in scoring in 24 of his 25 games, with 15 games of 20+ points and four games over 30…. Added 5.1 rebounds per game, 3.3 assists (tops on team), and 1.7 steals…. Named National Jesuit Player of the Week once (January 3-9) and made the Jesuit Honor Roll twice.

Kevin Foster – Santa Clara (So., G, 6-2, Katy, TX) Named to the NABC All-District 9 first team and the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major AllAmerica Team…. Honored as the most valuable player in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament after leading the Broncos to the title…. Selected to the All-WCC first team and chosen as the WCC most valuable player by CollegeInsider.com…. Scored 20.2 points per game, ranking among the top 25 scorers in the nation…. Led the country with 3.7 made three-point field goals per game…. Set a school record with 766 points in the season after reaching double figures in 36 of 38 games, with 16 20+ games and four games over 30…. Also led team in assists (3.7) and steals (1.6)…. Honored as National Jesuit Player of the Week once (January 17-23) and made the Jesuit Honor Roll five times.

Austin Freeman – Georgetown (Sr., G, 6-3, Mitchellville, MD) Earned a spot on the NABC All-District 5 first team and was chosen to participate in the NABC Reese’s College All-Star Game where he scored 21 points to lead his team…. Named to the All-Big East first team after carrying the Hoyas to a 20-win season and a consistent presence in the national rankings…. Scored in double figures 29 times and surpassed 20 points 12 times…. Shot 87 percent from the foul line to rank in the top 30 in the country…. Ended his college career as the No. 7 all-time scorer (1,761) at Georgetown…. Awarded a spot on the National Jesuit Honor Roll two times.

Tu Holloway – Gonzaga (So., F, 6-0, Hempstead, NY) Named to The Sporting News All-America Third Team and the NABC All-District 4 first team, as well as the CollegeInsider.com All-America Team and Defensive All-America Team…. Honored as the Atlantic 10 Player of the Year after leading the Musketeers to the regular-season title…. Led Xavier in scoring (19.7), assists (5.4), and free-throw percentage (.870) and ranked in the top 30 in the nation in all three categories…. Scored in double figures 29 times with 19 games of 20+ points and two over 30…. Set a school record with two triple-doubles (26-11-10 vs. Fordham and 14-10-14 vs. Wake Forest)…. Produced nine games with at least 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists…. Selected as the National Jesuit Player of the Week three times (January 10-16, January 24-30, February 14-20) and was part of the Jesuit Honor Roll four times.

Reggie Jackson – Boston College (Jr., G, 6-3, Colorado Springs, CO) Earned a spot on the NABC All-District 2 first team after leading the Eagles to 20 wins and an NIT berth…. Selected to the All-ACC first team…. Scored a team-high 18.2 points per game while shooting a solid 50 percent from the field and 80 percent from the foul line…. Added 4.5 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game…. Reached double figures in scoring 30 times with 14 games of 20 or more points and two over 30…. Produced five games with at least 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists…. Selected as the National Jesuit Player of the Week three times (November 29-December 5, January 10-16, February 7-13) and earned a spot on the Jesuit Honor Roll four times.

Darius Johnson-Odom – Marquette (Jr., G, 6-2, Raleigh, NC) Named to the NABC All-District 5 second team…. Earned a spot on the All-Big East second team…. Led the Golden Eagles in scoring (15.8), reaching double figures 33 times and surpassing 20 points eight times…. Carried Marquette to a crucial late-season overtime win over Connecticut by hitting a tying three-pointer with 5.3 seconds left and then exploding for nine points in the extra frame…. Paced the team into the NCAA Sweet Sixteen by scoring team highs of 19 and 17 points in upsets of Xavier and Syracuse, nailing a late three-pointer to seal the win over SU…. Awarded a spot on the National Jesuit Honor Roll four times.

Doug McDermott – Creighton (Fr., F, 6-7, Ames, IA) Named to the NABC All-District 16 second team and earned a spot on the CollegeInsider.com Freshman All-America Team…. Selected to the All-MVC first team, as well as being honored as the MVC Newcomer of the Year…. Led the Bluejays to the championship series of the College Basketball Invitational…. Scored 14.9 points and pulled down 7.2 rebounds per game, both leading the team…. Reached double figures in scoring 32 times with six games over 20 points and one over 30…. Made 52.5 percent of his fieldgoal attempts, one of the top 50 percentages in the country…. Earned a position on the Jesuit Honor Roll two times.

Derek Needham – Fairfield (So., G, 5-11, Dolton, IL) Selected to the NABC All-District 1 first team and the USBWA All-District Team after leading the Stags to the regular-season MAAC title…. Named to the All-MAAC first team and honored by CollegeInsider.com as the MAAC Most Valuable Player…. Led Fairfield in both scoring (14.1) and assists (4.5) for the second straight season…. Has started 67 consecutive games…. Reached double figures in scoring 26 times and led the team in scoring 17 times…. Named to the National Jesuit Honor Roll four times.

Chris Wright – Georgetown (Sr., G, 6-1, Bowie, MD) Selected to the All-Big East third team after serving as the steadying hand for the Hoyas…. Led the team in assists with 5.3 per game, ranking him in the top 40 in the nation…. Added 12.9 points per game, second on the team, reaching double figures in scoring 18 times with five games of 20 or more…. Produced two double-doubles, including a 21-point, 10-assist game vs. Missouri…. Suffered a late-season injury which caused him to miss all or part of four games, all GU losses, showing his importance to the team…. Moved into the top 20 in career scoring in school history and stands sixth all-time in assists…. Awarded a spot on the National Jesuit Honor Roll three times.

Joe Trapani – Boston College (Sr., F, 6-8, Madison, CT) All-ACC third team… 14.8 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 1.8 apg… Double-figure scoring in 30 games with seven of 20 points or more… Four double-doubles, including a 25-point, 15-rebound contest vs. North Carolina… Sixth in the ACC in rebounding and 13th in scoring… National Jesuit Honor Roll twice.

Drew Viney – Loyola Marymount (R-Jr., F, 6-8, Villa Park, CA) All-WCC honorable-mention selection… 17.2 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 1.8 apg, 48% FG, 77% FT… Double-figure scoring in 26 of his 27 games… 20+ points nine times, including five of his last six (18 in the other)… Six double-doubles, including a 30-point, 11-assist showing vs. Santa Clara… National Jesuit Honor Roll twice.
