10 | www.montgomerycountyva.gov/parks DISC GOLF COURSE Montgomery County Parks & Recreation has a 37-hole Disc Golf course for you to enjoy. This is a very unique course that consists of wooded fairways with a variety of elevation gains. Out of 4300 national public courses listed in the disc golf course database, Golden Hills is one of only 19 in the United States with 37 holes. Right here in your backyard! The course is free to play; all we ask is that you take out what you bring in. If you have any questions, give us a call at (540) 382-6975. Before you play The Rules: Throw a disc from tee to target over each hole of the course in the fewest throws. Each throw after the tee shot is addressed as a stroke from the lie of the previous throw. Discs thrown over fencing or stuck in a tree at least six feet high are considered a penalty stroke. Par for each 19hole course is 57. Remember to yield to trail users when crossing paths. Have fun and good luck! The Map: Follow the map (next page) through each 19-hole course - Golden Bear (blue line) or Black Bear (green line). The Scorecard: If you want to make it competitive - or you’re just curious how you compare to those pro disc golfers! - take a scorecard (on the back of the map) on the course with you.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY OZONE ALL-STARS DIXIE DISTRICT 3 CHAMPIONS These young men went on quite a ride. This Montgomery County All-Star team ties the 2011 team as the most successful in Montgomery County Parks and Recreation history. This team also helped put Montgomery County baseball back on the map. Montgomery has been overshadowed the last few years by the incredibly good teams of neighbor franchise Christiansburg. Mike Sparrer came to the rec department back during Christmas with a plan to bring back the best talent from Auburn and East Mont that had left the Dixie program for various reasons over the past few years. His vision was to bring this group of boys back from their respective travel ball teams and help field a strong Dixie All-Star team. Mission accomplished! Along with the great on-field coaching from Stacey Keith and Eric Underwood, this team has helped lay a foundation to keep Montgomery County baseball competitive for the next few seasons. This is something to be very proud of. Congratulations to the 2015 Montgomery County All-Stars! These young men are Reed Underwood, Parker Hale, Carter Keith, Rusty Marshall, Landon Shaver, Tyler Sparrer, J.T. Foster, Bryce Young, Matthew Lawrence, Daniel Brotherton, Kaden Poff and Trevor Young. Ten of these players will be future Auburn Eagles and two will be the cornerstone of future Eastern Montgomery Mustang baseball teams. It will be a lot of fun to watch them as they make their way up the junior varsity and varsity ranks in the coming years; but they will always remember this summer - the summer they came together to win the ultra-competitive Dixie District 3 Championship and then place third at the Dixie Baseball State Tournament!
