YOU

Yes, this may happen, OR it may not. Maybe, just maybe, brilliant one – everyone is waiting for your authentic self to show up. By being authentic in each of these roles, we begin to bring ourselves – our full selves, to our work, to our roles and more importantly to our relationships.

So what do I mean by ‘bringing ourselves’? It begins by knowing ourselves. I feel this starts with being true and conscious of our choices. It continues with us being aware of what we say ‘no’ to, and what we say ‘yes’ to in a whole-hearted way. It is also about having the confidence to release all the things we ‘should’ do and being brave enough to fully step into and embrace our heart’s desires – the soul’s calling. Being authentic does not release us from responsibilities – it allows us to accept them more fully and gracefully – and we begin to approach them with a full deep contented heart. positively you | by Karen Larkin

With 7+ billion people on this beautiful planet of ours, there are 7+ billion ways that authenticity reveals itself. You are unique, like everyone else – so this means that you, too, have a way of being authentic. Here is the definition of the word authentic in the context of our conversation today: au·then·tic - adjective (aw-then-tik)

Being authentic, being real, being genuine is never at the expense of others, it is always at the empowerment of others. As we discover, remember ourselves and step fully into our being we allow others to do the same, we become a beacon of inspiration for others. How do you know when you are being authentic? I asked this on my Facebook page and here are a few responses from experts:

: real or genuine : not copied or false : true and accurate You may be one, or all of these: a daughter, a sister, a friend, a lover, a partner, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, an employee, a business owner – you get me. It can be so exhausting some days – keeping up with all of the societal expectations of ‘how you should be’ within these roles. What if I said that simply by being authentic, (by being yourself), your life might feel easier... might flow better? You may feel you are unable to be authentic – you may have a fear about it. With the many roles and responsibilities you have in this world by being authentic you may upset people or your life might shift or change significantly and yes, this can cause fear.

When your actions are met with a sense of gratitude, peace and eternal calmness. When you don’t have to ‘think’ about it from the head, you do or say what comes natural from your heart. When everything you do is aligned with your core values.
