H1/26 Rural Queensland

Headlines FY26 agricultural output to decline 4.9%, with gross value forecast at $104.45 billion; with a 2.2% fall in livestock production and a sharper 8.1% drop in crop yields. Agricultural exports are expected to contract by 8%, with total value easing to $79.32 billion amid lower export volumes. Average broadacre farm profits to fall 70% in FY27, reflecting lower revenues and increased input costs.

Farming expenses in Queensland are expected to remain high, driven by rising fuel, fertiliser and feed expenses. Rural property sales across Queensland trended 30% lower in 2025, whilst being 24% below the five year average. Queensland broadacre farmland prices rose by 28.2%, to stand at an average $8,740 per hectare at the end of 2025, after growing by 84% over the past five years.
