The Masters Kar ka Affandi

Kar ka Affandi, born in 1934, is a senior female ar st in Indonesia who inherited her talent from her father, the legendary Affandi, one of the icons of Indonesian ar sts. Her expressionism style comes directly from the tube and spread out with her snaking fingers give emo on to the pain ng, a style that is unique to her and her Father. Nature and facial expressions with the selec on of bright colors are her main focus. And although she never received higher formal educa on, she is o en invited to give ar st talks in interna onal art events, received Doctor Honorary Causa in Art and Culture from Nothern California Global University (NCGU), United States of America in 2004; Honorary Degree Maestro in Pi ura, Italy; Golden Medal from Academica of Salsomaggiore, Italy, and many other.

An award winning ar st from Indonesia, Ubrux gained interna onal experiences when he lived in Switzerland as a billboard ar st and painter, before he won the Phillip Morris Art Award in Singapore Art M u s e u m i n 2 0 0 0 . H i s w o r k s a re characterized by mummified figures without faces in newsprint, bringing strong sa rical messages and observa on on social and poli cal issues. His pain ngs are alarming and haun ng, yet aesthe c and alluring. He is concerned a b o u t t h e ro l e of t h e m e d i a a n d propaganda that is wrapped in nice images and speeches. He finely hand painted headlines and contents from newspapers and wrap it around the figures or objects of his artworks. Born in 1972, Deskahiri delivers his thoughts and feelings towards life, and social poli cal cultural issues through lines, shapes and choice of colors in his works. A Sumatran who graduated from Ins tute of Art Yogyakarta, and is now living in Yogyakarta. Deskhairi has par cipated in many art exhibi on in Indonesia, and received several awards from variety of pain ng compe ons in Indonesia.

Being an ardent trekker and adventurer her love for nature is well depicted in her art. Through her choice of bright colors, Sandhya showcases her love for life, her spontaneity and her zest for crea vity. All the colors chosen by Sandhya have some reflec on into her life and every art piece is just another mirror image of her mood, her personal triumphs and joys. Having done various artworks on various themes, Sandhya focuses on artworks that can add more meaning to her life. Every pain ng is her interpreta on and her expression in the literal sense which she camouflages in her colors and flowers in a genius kind of way. Sandhya’s first-hand experience in art was when she started pain ng on porcelain. Having found an opportunity to make 40+ feet murals for Kangaroo Kids School in Delhi, Jaipur and Kolkata, was just the encouragement she had been looking for. From there her interest soon grew into passion earning her various spots at many art exhibi ons to showcase her art beginning from Mumbai to Malaysia and Singapore. Moving to Singapore proved to be a blessing in disguise as here she was introduced to water colors and oils on canvas, which was the beginning of her chosen medium in art.
