A highlight of the 2016 Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference was a conversation with Washington Post Executive Editor Marty Baron (right) moderated by Conference Co-founder and Pulitzer Finalist George Getschow (left). Baron's work at the Boston Globe was the catalyst for the Oscar-winning movie Spotlight. Teams working under Baron's direction have won a total of 14 Pulitzer Prizes.

The word from journalists about the nation’s premier literary nonfiction contest. Each year, the Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference brings together hundreds of the top writers, authors, publishers and agents to celebrate the craft of storytelling. This year’s conference featured more than a dozen Pulitzer Prize winners in categories ranging from investigative reporting and photography to breaking news and general non-fiction. Each had stories to tell. This year’s conference received a hearty thumbs up from those whose job it is to use storytelling to document the everyday in the world around us. Here’s what they had to say: From The Dallas Morning News, which featured daily roundups of conference events in its digital and print pages, this headline: #TheMayborn16: How to make a journalist cry. (And gasp. And laugh. And learn.)

Writer Michael Merschel goes on to share that: “The Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference does not disappoint. Some years have more drama, some years have more star power. But it has not disappointed me yet, and this year’s conference, which ended earlier today, kept that streak intact.” Pointing out the lineup of Pulitzer winners on the three-day roster, Merschel adds: “But if you write, read or care about the power of great journalism, my gosh, what a gathering of rock stars. Maybe not Woodstock. Definitely akin to one of the better jam concerts that they have at the Hall of Fame induction ceremonies.” Mershel describes Baron as: “Just the sort of tough, demanding presence you would want in such an editor. And he sees a future for more of such work. I will sleep better tonight knowing that he thinks so. And that people like him are still on the job.” To read the full review from The Dallas Morning News, visit http://bit.ly/2e88Qgm.
