Cherry Blossom & Blood is a composition that derives its frequency content and form from two sound spectra. The first spectrum used an image of a drawn cherry blossom tree and converted it into sound. The sound was then analyzed for harmonic content. The second image was of splattered blood and the same process was used to extract information. The picture of the cherry blossom flowers on the tree and in the wind, at quick glance looked like splattered blood. The narration takes two poems, one about cherry blossoms and one about flowers and death. These poems reflect on the images by the first describing cherry blossoms and the second describing death (blood).
