THE SWIM Both boats will have GPS Trackers and can be followed at http://cspf.co.uk/tracking We will also have a “giant” WhatsApp group for live footage, updates and comments from both boats. Those in the licensing industry or otherwise such as friends and family can preregister on this WhatsApp group and also send messages of encouragement and support throughout. The aforementioned combined creates a genuinely exciting forum for all and uniquely brings the licensing community as a whole onto both boats for a “real time” experience. Unlike prior group fundraisers for The Light Fund, there is no swag van, hiding place or reprieve for any of these swimmers……when they are in the water, the entire team event rests with their “solo” effort and performance.
DOVER TO CALAIS/ BOULOGNE
The swim will be officially observed and ratified for the English Channel Record Books by the Channel Swimming & Pilots Federation (CS&PF). The squad must put their lives on hold for at least 3 days on either side of the allocated swim date window as the weather dictates when the swim will start. It could be at any time of day or night with as little as 2 hours notice to assemble in Dover. Think “childbirth” by way of logistical comparison!
