One trend buyers never want to see again is double-digit increase in property values which made many second and primary homes virtually unaffordable and led to a glut of bank-owned properties. Now many Realtors and sellers alike are longing for those days gone by. I feel that market is gone; that ship has sailed. I feel this is ‘the normal market’ and that one from past years may never return again. Hawaii never suffered the 40% to 60% home price reduction the rest of the country endured, so it does not offer the same ‘rebound value’ that Arizona, California or Florida does. That is because Hawaii attracts buyers from around the world and not all countries suffered the same economy setback that the US did. Home buyers now have many more choices, at far better mortgage rates and lower prices than they did several years ago, and are more selective in their property purchases than ever before. It is a new market now, based on sensible purchasing motives for a more logical economy. Hawaii offers some incredible opportunities, especially for shrewd buyers looking for a second home or primary residence.
