Biogas Fuel
A Beginner’s Guide to Biogas Fuel Biogas is the name given to fuel which has been derived from organic waste decomposition. In a process known as anaerobic digestion, biogas is created through the conversion of the natural gases released as organic matter such as animal waste or food scraps break down.
METHANE
CONTENT
Biogas can be used as a fuel as it is highly flammable, typically comprised of between 50% and 75% methane. This means the gas can be burned, producing a blue flame which can be used to generate heat. The methane content is converted into carbon dioxide during the process of creating biogas.
AN
ECOLOGICAL
SOLUTION Biogas is a sustainable alternative to the burning of fossil fuels as it is created from waste products rather than finite resources. It reduces our reliance on fossil fuels for energy while simultaneously solving the problem of dangerous methane levels being released into the atmosphere through the global waste epidemic. It utilises natural recycling processes to convert dangerous waste products into usable energy.
