The 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon based at Alex SLSC is one of Australia’s most-loved running festivals and the host of this year’s Australian Half Marathon Championships. Australia’s fastest male and female distance runners will not only vie for line honours at this year’s 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon, but a $25 000 pay day if they break the country’s longstanding half marathon record.

A member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), the 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon and Community Run Festival includes the marathon, half marathon, 10 km, 5 km and the 2 km events. The event precinct - start and finish - is at the Alexandra Headland’s SLSC, with all events running along the stunning coastline. Race start times are scheduled to allow for parents to run the longer distances and then return in time to run with the kids and enjoy all the free fun in the family entertainment precinct, which includes an event expo, food stalls, music and kids’ entertainment. There is also a familyfriendly outdoor movie and 'running with the stars' event on Friday 18 August. All this is made possible with the support of the local community and the iconic Alexandra Headlands SLSC.
