Robert Panovsky – Mechanical Engineer and owner of Slew Bearing Services Pty Ltd, knows how to keep bearings running smoothly. A factory trained mechanical engineer, Robert specialises in the supply and service of large bearings.

“Slew bearings are rotational rolling-element bearings that typically support a heavy but slow-turning or slow-oscillating load, made in sizes of up to 8,000mm for solid slew bearings and up to 12,000mm for segmented slew bearings,” Robert explains.

Ambitious and driven, Robert saw a gap in the industry.

“There was a lack of on-site service in the field of delivering customised one-off bearings in a very short time frame,” he said.

He focused his experience on starting his own business in 2008 – ‘Slew Bearing Services Pty Ltd’. In 2009 he became an agent for a French company ‘Athos Engineering’ which he purchased in 2012 with stock, drawings, contacts and bearing design software.

Robert and his team design and supply custom-made slew bearings and perform a range of associated services for their diverse international client base.

Robert’s training has taken him to all parts of the world.

Studying abroad in the United Kingdom, Robert graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1999. He then spent the following eight years gaining experience and further training throughout Germany, South Africa and China.

“I have trained in England, Germany, South Africa, China and Spain. I travel extensively and do jobs in remote parts of Australia and overseas (Colombia, India, Indonesia and New Zealand).
