Bergamo. Città e paesaggio Intermodal Porta Sud The “Intermodal Porta Sud” project extends along the Bergamo railway line, integrating the disused parts, the disused industrial areas and the green areas south of the tracks, expressing itself in configurations with a strong urban and landscape value, aiming at strengthening and improving the infrastructure for collective mobility. On the whole surface a joint project of intermodality of interchange is proposed, articulated in different implementation sectors, capable of mending parts of cities that are at the same time close but separate from the railway. The position of the project plays a strategic role in relation to its barycentric role between the historical city and the area of future development in the south, completing its journey to the airport. Through the project and the existing infrastructures, the station area becomes the fulcrum of urban connections capable of activating the entire area, responding to the needs of the city, allowing public transport to be activated even in those areas which, to date, have more need. Intermodal center means the synergy of functions between the different transport areas, such as the bus terminal, the station with the new connection to the airport, the tram, the multi-storey underground car park and all the pedestrian connections, linked and directed by the main building, culminating with a tower, containing spaces for the public administration, spaces for offices and commercial spaces. Through its presence, this building will allow an urban reorganization for this important part of the city, trying to change the face of areas that are in a state of neglect, offering answers to important needs of citizens, such as the availability of places for collective use for socializing and free time, which are of high quality urban and attractive. Overlooking the large public spaces, this project will constitute the new physical and symbolic center that will contribute to becoming the new heart of this part of the city. studioRiuso ex-Fabbrica Gaslini a Mola di Bari Mola di Bari Winery and Glass Factory The ex-Gaslini Factory in Mola di Bari, located at the southern outskirts of the city and in relation to the port, was born at the beginning of the twentieth century as an oil plant. The volumetric complex was marked by growth around a central open space. Today, the plant is a product of great value, open to new interpretations. Through a reuse project, I want to interpret the existing artefacts through the knowledge of its historical, settling, formal and constructive reasons for identifying possible future developments. The reuse project involves the use of the sand dredged from the port of the city used for planting a native vine for the production of wine for the winery and for the production of bottles of blown glass.

Zurigo Ferrovia e Città

This project seeks to solve one of the major problems affecting the city of Zurich, its citizens, its workers and its territory: that of daily commuter traffic. Located ideally at the “gateway” to the city, between the Limmat river and the Limmatbrücke highway, Zurich Gate aims to stop inside it 5000 cars that enter the city every day, giving workers the opportunity to be able to move by train or tram, decongesting the Zurich road network. This however does not want to be just a parking lot. As the first large complex of Zurich’s territory along the river Limmat, it features various functions (such as congress center, hotel, art and culture center, supermarket), which will connect directly to the station to make the building active during the various periods of the year, both to be able to contain this continuous flow of people. Zurich Gate connects the natural territory beyond the river, with the strong infrastructure presence of the highway, so far seen as a wound in the landscape.

SHARED URBAN LIVING abitare, lavorare, vivere nel centro di Milano

The scope is placed in the historic city center of Milan: extremely dense urban sector in terms of historical stratification, which is identified in today’s streets Zecca Vecchia, Fosse Ardeatine, Valpetrosa, St. Sepolcro, which is where the Forum of the Roman city, at the intersection of the paths of the decumanus maximus and cardo. The area insists in a portion of the city that has been the subject of significant design interventions, rehabilitation, replacement and reorganization started building from the post-unification period and continued in the first decades of the twentieth century. The area currently occupied the garage Sanremo, municipal property, inadequate to the local character from a symbolic point of view, architectural and typological, is the subject of transformative forecasts by the municipal administration.

ROMANSHORN 2027 - Tutela e Cura della Tradizione Relais am Bodensee

In the tradition of the Swiss national exhibitions, 25 years after EXPO 2002, the next national exposure is expected to be in the area of three Cantons: Appenzell, St. Gallen and Thurgau. In collaboration with the superintendence of the canton Thurgau this semester is dedicated to the reuse, the protection and practice of restoration in Romanshorn. The option chosen for the recovery of the Schlosshotel is aimed at restoring its previous function, namely that of the hotel, however, turning it into a family Relais. The idea of the project is to recover the existing structure of the Schlosshotel, enhancing its position adjacent to the lake with a view of the entire panorama of the city of Romanshorn has to offer.

LA FORMA Ăˆ NECESSARIA Sperimentazioni Microbiologiche The studio explores the possible relations between architecture and other disciplines in contemporary culture with the aim of experimenting with new aesthetics through project and prototypes. The course will also explore the possibility of experimenting with the relation between architecture and biology in the process of modification of form.

Slime Mold - living architecture These simple organisms, composed either of a single multi-nucleated cell or of a aggregation of different unicellular individuals, are always defined by the outer membrane and, despite they simplicity and their small dimension, they show a complex range of behaviors, ranging from environment sensing, to patterns recognition and networks optimization. A future intent will for the next phases of the development of an architectural proposal is not to use these complex biological systems just to optimize a structure digitally in order to then build it as an inert element. We thrive for the creation of a real living architecture, able to mantain a continuous exchange of matter and energy between itself and the environment, able to modify itself and adapt to the external and internal condition. More then this, men should investigate the construction of a new relationship between man and environment, in which the architecture becomes the medium to build a negotiation between the parts, more than a war between the human kind and the natural forces.

PARIS SANS FIN

Interrogate the complexity of relations that constitutes the being of the city of Paris, and the combinations of rigor and license that have preserved their identity, is the beginning of my research, taking on the project as a study tool and verification of a sense common of living in Paris, interwoven with memory and personal experience.

ATELIER À HABITER

Creating a home studio for a painter in the coutry of Stampa, birthplace of Alberto Giacometti, a small village located in Bregaglia Valley, which is 32 km from St. Moritz, organized along the highway. It looks like a seemingly disordered aggregate of isolated buildings, which although close to each other maintain their own individuality. The purpose of this semester was to build a personal interpretation of a housing program beyond the conventions normed, questioning propositions and relationship between different areas of domestic and work spaces. Atelier and house share traits of introversion and traits of openness, in relating to the fierce landscape of mountains around. it is supposed to reflect on living spaces along with a constellation of gardens, stops, trails, and imagining the interieur and the exterieur as scenes of the same micro landscape.

LA MERAVIGLIA COME ESERCIZIO

During the first semester the studio session concentrated their explorations on the human body, taking its dimensions and proportions as the measure of architecture. Each student was asked to create the shape of his body through a cast made of plaster bandages. These seventy shapes so obtained were made solid and mobile by adding wheels and handles. These machines-bodies were then sent through the built-up core of Mendrisio, following the precise laws of form, texture, density and movement that regulate flows and the aggregations of flocks in nature. The event, called Man ad a Topological Measure of the City: Configuration in Mendrisio, enabled us to investigate the relations between body and architectural space in some significant places in the city. It was also held a lecture and exhibition of this exercise at the Milan Triennale with the title “La meraviglia come esercizio, on September 17th 2013.
