When you think about what to do on vacation, in addition to choosing the destination, one of the first things you do is choose the hotel. You look for a good location, quality services and comfort, but what if you want more than that? One of the most appealing features of the Derby Hotels Collection is that our guests can enjoy a vast number of works of art, which are present not only in the communal areas but also in the rooms in all our hotels. To the company, the quality of materials and food have never stopped being important, but having something truly distinctive is priceless. In this sense, the Hotel Claris is one of the flagships of the Derby Hotels Collection, given that since it opened in 1992 it has stood out from the other 5*GL hotels by becoming a veritable museum. Art and splendour mix and share every corner of the hotel: pieces of Egyptian art from the Old Kingdom to the Roman period mingle with 18th and 19th century English furniture, Roman sculptures and mosaics from the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD, engravings by Guinovart, original engravings commissioned by Napoleon in 1812 and Indian and Burmese sculptures from the 5th to 8th centuries. New acquisition One of the new developments at the Hotel Claris in 2012 is the introduction of a wonderful selection of 200 works of preColombian art from the Maya, Chimu, Nayarit, Tairona, Quimbaya, Veracruz and Jalisco cultures, among others. These pieces, some of which have never before been seen in Spain, are part of the private collection that Derby Hotels Collection has managed to amass over 35 years thanks to its participation in international auctions and to the agreements signed with museums and collectors.
