Global Media Partner
Participate in the most important climate change Business Summit of 2010 Following the approval of the Copenhagen Accord at the UNFCCC COP 15, there is now a need to accelerate economic solutions to mitigate climate change. Fortunately, many of these business, finance and technological solutions already exist, and they must be implemented and scaled globally with the private and public sector.
PARTNERSHIPS + INNOVATION + FINANCE
The World Climate Summit is a new conference that will accelerate these solutions and encourage collaborations between businesses, investors, and governments. It is a new platform that will run every year in parallel to the UNFCCC COP annual meeting, with the inaugural one in December 4‐5th, 2010 during COP 16 in Cancun, Mexico. In partnership with TIME, United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative, Carbon Disclosure Project and the official support of the Mexican Government’s Trade and Investment Promotion Agency ProMexico, the World Climate Summit will be the largest multi‐day business conference during COP 16. It is dedicated to facilitate, innovate and accelerate economic solutions to climate change. The private sector and financial world hold important keys to effective climate change mitigation. The World Climate Summit will provide a platform for the private and public sector to work together constructively, while leveraging the media and political concentration present at the COP 16.
World Climate Summit will convene the 300 most important and influential business leaders, investors, and government decision makers to accelerate economic solutions to climate change. The conference is focused on facilitating bottom‐up collaborations and solutions to climate change with companies, cities and regions.
INNOVATORS + THOUGHT LEADERS + DECISION MAKERS During the 2 days, the summit will be structured to cover the key areas that affect all companies, cities and regions—buildings, construction, energy, transportation, waste, water, IT, agriculture, forests and industry. WCS will concentrate on accelerating capacity building, finance, innovation and technology transfer within these sectors.
With the help of its partners, the World Climate Summit has access to the largest concentration of industry leaders and investors tackling climate change, through more than 60 industry associations, 100 chambers of commerce, 2,500 companies, and more than 530 investors representing more than $64 trillion of assets under management. Participating businesses, entrepreneurs, finance and government leaders will have the opportunity to: • Meet, learn and network with other leaders, businesses, investors, entrepreneurs & governments. • Communicate and present climate change commitments and solutions to stakeholders, including local and global media. • Collaborate with businesses, investors and governments on implementing, scaling, financing, and replicating solutions (e.g. Public Private Partnerships). • Matchmake financial and technology resources to create new solutions within companies, cities and regions.
