CASA

Casa Spazio VuotoPieno

VUOT PIEN spazio

The design strategy comes from the creation of a longitudinal spine, an element of directionality that generates all the environments, and a transparent staircase block. The two elements produce a space of expansion and compression, which has a cylindrical column like fulcrum element of the living space. The living area is composed of a preponderant free space, in which can be find full elements characterized by pure shapes:

dining area, the kitchen island, and the base of the ladder. The contrast between the free space and the pure and monolithic forms of furnishings, creates an interesting full-and-empty game, from which the project takes its name: Casa Spazio Vuoto-Pieno, that means Home Full-Empty Space.

The cell:

a space for smartworking

11

The concept of the project is the cell. The architectural layout conforms with an organic and fluid structure generated by a set of corpuscles that form together a homogeneous tissue but diversified by function. This allows a wide permeability in relation to the flows, and at the same time delimits the work areas and the service areas.

Office space model: axonometric view 12

The cell, the main element of the plant composition, is characterized by some significant points: the false ceiling and the floor delimit the workspace area; the walls act as a diaphragm with the overall environment, generating a more introverted space but always permeable; items of furniture such as workbenches more informal redirecting the flow path in the space, giving shape to the cell; lighting draws the surface of the work area and recalls the cell aggregation for the formation of a real tissue.

Aquarium in Venice Lido

21

The aquarium, placed on the border of the Venice Lido, facing the island, is constructed as a multi leveled structure with three locations for viewing: three visual cones which exhibit Venice and its lagoon, the Nicelli airport and the Lido.

Africa: The green wall against desert.

25

The implemented strategy proposes village settlements in areas where desertification is advancing. Objective: the creation of a local farming production able to develop with time a reforestation of the affected place.

view 26

The housing unit is composed of a triangular module which contains private functions. Connecting to other housing modules, it creates shared spaces, public, for the administration of life in the village.

The architectural construction for the residence is composed of bamboo poles, sand bags as brickwork and pressed straw bales for the cover, ropes as poles binding, and concrete for the foundations.

house axonometric section 28

Four kinds of bindings enable the construction with bamboo poles: one to create the cover, one for the main beams, one more to connect pairs of poles and the last one to anchor the structure to the foundations.

The planning of the future city starts from the study of historic town centers because inner cities preserve "sustainable" dimensions and measures. In medical science, radiography shows what cannot be seen by the unaided eye; in the same way the analysis of old town centers reveals the necessary material for the new planning.

33

Modern street sections are designed in connection with the means of automotive transportation. In the future, supposing a reduction in use of cars in favor of innovative means of transportation, the sections and curbs could be reconsidered, borrowing from the historic old town characters and models.
