School News SISTER SCHOOL ZAMBIA Thisyearsaware-connectiontoSt.Joseph¢sSchoolin Chivuna,afellowRSHMandde-factosister' ' schoolinZambia. UndertheguidanceofSisterDeborahJamaliRSHM,whois facilitating the development of this partnership, students from the Student Goals and Implementation Committee (SGIC) met online with girls in their equivalent group JPIC (Justice, Peace andIntegrityofCreation)inZambia. Thegirlsspoketoeachotherabouttheirdi(erentcountries andtheirsharedexperiences.ThegirlsfromZambiaexplained to our students that they have been working to raise money for their community, particularly a nearby orphanage, St. Michael’s. JPIC are also raising awareness of women’s rights, thetra(ckingofwomenandchildren,identifyingissuesrelated to poverty in their communities and creating ways to care fortheenvironment.TheSt.Joseph¢sgirlsaskedincredibly poignantquestionsaboutthelifeofwomenintheUKand explained some of the challenges that girls and women face in their community and culture. Fromthisconnectionarosethepilotforpeer-tutoring sessions between Marymount and St. Joseph’s in Science, MathematicsandEnglish,aswellasaBookClub.These sessions, run twice a week, brought together the students for some fun lessons based on shared curricula. Peer tutors adapting quicklytothedi(erentagesintheclassesaswellassomealltoo-familiartechnicalissuessurroundingonlinelearning!Both student groups are excited to work together again next year on this project, as well as continued fundraising for St. Michael’s.
