KEYNOTE SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY Matthew Antonio Bosch is Director of the Gender & LGBTQIA Center at Elon University in North Carolina. Within ACPA, he was re-elected for a second term to ACPA’s Governing Board as Coordinator for State Divisions and is a Past President of the Minnesota College Personnel Association. His professional background spans Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, and Diversity Affairs across community colleges, 4-year public, and 4-year private universities, with degrees from Harvard University & Cornell University. Known for his energy and enthusiasm, Matthew Antonio looks to bring levels of realness and authenticity to conversations around reinventing one’s personal and professional identities across Higher Education.

PROGRAM SESSON 1 The Lead Role: Marketing Student Leaders in Rm 44C Admissions and Beyond Michelle O’Donnell, Associate Director of Admissions, Mount St. Mary’s University Joanna Hale, Presidential Mount Ambassador Coordinator, Mount St. Mary’s University Melissa Hilleary, Presidential Mount Ambassador Coordinator, Mount St. Mary’s University Within student affairs, student leadership positions offer the opportunity for students to develop and grow. When programs and events are offered, it is not only showcasing the program or event itself, but the student leaders themselves. It then becomes necessary to market these students. This program will discuss how the Admissions Staff at Mount St. Mary’s markets their student leaders to prospective students and families, and how these techniques can be used within any realm of student affairs. ALLY: It’s Not a Dirty Word Rm 37 Whitney Burton, Linkage to Care Coordinator, University of Maryland, Founding Campus Orrin Ware, Coordinator Howard County Project, University of Maryland, Founding Campus This workshop will promote Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) youth ally development. This session specifically targets adolescents, young adults (13-25yo) and educational administrators working with this population. Interactive activities will be utilized to facilitate knowledge and ease comfort of using skills developed. Participants will have a better understanding of what the culturally competent ally development process is and the supportive role of allies.

PROGRAM SESSON 3 Grad School: There’s an app for that Rm 39 Amanda Merson, Resident Director, Stevenson University Jen Milam, Assistant Director for Student Activities, Stevenson University Thinking about a career in higher education? You’re probably going to need to consider graduate school! As a current undergraduate or recent college graduate, the grad school application process can seem overwhelming. This session will give you the insights and resources necessary for choosing and applying to the right program(s) for you. Introduction to Diversity in Sexuality for Young Professionals Rm 37 Maeve Spiegler, Resident Assistant, Loyola University Maryland This workshop will be a comprehensive introduction and discussion of sexual identities as it pertains to the workplace and Student Affairs. We will discuss sexual and gender identities through presentation, Youtube clips and activities. Learn good strategies and how to be an ally and advocate and do small things that make a big difference.

PROGRAM SESSON 4 Small Schools with BIG Hearts Lenna Blaser, Student Leader, Goucher College

This educational program will be able to provide students attending a small school with a small board to learn how to program on a shoestring budget ($25,000 or less). It is intended to be an informative presentation with open dialogue for students to share fun-filled cost-effective events/ ideas. This presentation will include how to effectively use all members of the board, how to budget and prioritize events that matter to your school, effective ways to get students excited about attending programming events, and how to include the surrounding community through outreach and/or collaborating with other schools. Please come to learn how small schools can still make an impact with BIG hearts! Making Training Go Beyond August Rm 39 Alexandria Honsberger, Area Coordinator, Mount St. Mary’s University Estela Vargas, Area Coordinator, Mount St. Mary’s University Training is always one of the best moments of the Resident Assistant position. But, sometimes the energy level decreases when other commitments and academic classes are added to the mix. So, as Resident Assistants how do we sustain the energy that training nurtures, beyond August? This presentation will discuss the different methods that Mount St. Mary's Department of Residence Life uses to encourage the spirit and sense of community within the Resident Assistant staff.
