Concert hall for Prague

supervisor: MgA. Ondřej Císler Ph.D.

year: 2013

size: 1800 spectators

location: Karlovo náměstí, Prague

Czech music history is important and beneficial even in a global context. Prague respects this tradition. One of the most reputable symphony orchestra is located here. Nevertheless there is not concert hall with excellent acoustic parameters in the city.

This project verifies the placement of the building on Karlovo náměstí. The concert hall is located in the northern part of the square, closer to the city centre. It forms part of the paved square and the entrance space. Acoustic design use shoebox scheme, what is based on the famous hall of history.

02 Vítězné náměstí

supervisor: Ing. arch. Jan Aulík

year: 2012

size: 7 ha

location: Vítězné náměstí, Prague

awarded project

Vítězné náměstí has been left in Engl’s plans only. Today, the centre of Dejvice is vast space defined by roundabout – unusable middle, large areas of isolating green space, impassable territory. Oversized waste ground can’t be used like a square if standing on one side you are not able to see what is happening on the other. It is impossible to take energy for space of surrounding buildings. They are not significant enough.

The main theme of the proposal is to change the format of square to smaller and deeper rooted. There will come into existence city hall, gallery, hotel and typical town house on today’s square. Space between this buildings will became new centre of the quarter. Form of the objects is a reaction to main Engel’s axis from university campus to Dejvice and axis from Prague centre. In underground is manifested axis of tube what is important source of activity and important connection between station and university.

Block of flats in the meander

supervisor: Ing. arch. Michal Kuzemenský

year: 2012

size: 56 flats

location: Libeň - Prague co-worker: Markéta Orságová

Elsnicovo náměstí is waiting for large development of quarter for decades. During that time it became indeterminate, dead and forgotten space. Such places create an image of the Libeň. They impede, what they are waiting for.

Town house determines Holý square and becomes dominant for it. Building also determines main street and connects way around the river Rokytka. We accent what is at place now and not what there maybe will be.

04 Houses under Vyšehrad

supervisor: Ing. arch. Miroslav Cikán

year: 2011

size: 20 flats

location: Vyšehrad - Prague

Project look into the situation of the right bank of the Vltava River in the area between Vyšehrad rock and a railway bridge. The main intervention is to replace the buildings and riverside connection with Vyšehrad.

Residential buildings from the late 19th century, which stands in a fragment of street Na Libušince are oriented backside to the waterfront. They have no special value and will be replaced by new ones. Connection with this space and Vyšehrad is arranged by tunnel in waterfront wall. Such a solution has been extensively used in the past.

05 Pasohlávky centre

supervisor: Ing. arch. Barbora Ponešová Ph.D.

year: 2009

size: 3 ha

location: Pasohlávky - Souht Moravia co-workers: Lucie Najvarová, Peter Kolhammer

Space in the village centre is now empty and underused even if it is directly connected to the square and lake. We design it as a landscape that rises from the water and transfers energy between the houses. Formed strands flow into other areas and create new or rearrange exist objects.

One of them is cultural centre. It is created by rolling of one strand.
